I have a feeder with a ring so the little birds can land on it, if they want to, and they come back for this nectar mix every year. They will even get in my way and chatter at me if I don’t have the feeder ready for them when they arrive in the spring! This mix seems to be their favorite of all the concentrates and formulas that I have used. I think it may have something in it that helps keep it from turning into vinegar in the heat. It mixes easily with water. Use the formula on the bag. The mixture usually lasts until the hummingbirds drink it all up. If the heat and sunshine causes it to change color or if the birds do a quick taste and run, it probably needs changed for fresh mix. I save money mixing it up myself compared to the pre-made and concentrated liquid food.

Poison for Hummingbirds! This product contains red coloring. Any bird expert will tell you it’s poison for the Hummingbirds! Just use plain white sugar. White sugar only. Mix ratio 4 parts hot water to 1 part sugar. The hot water will help to dissolve the sugar. Store any unused solution in a jar in the fridge. The red feeder with the bright yellow ports us all you need to attract the little guys. Not food coloring.

This stuff is awesome. It’s very easy to make and so much cheaper. I have at least five or six hummingbirds coming here and it’s actually funny to watch them bully each other. I’ve had five of them drinking at once and I’ve had a few chase each other around. It’s right outside my windows so I love it.
