Helpful to organize smaller hooks. I didn’t read the fine print so I didn’t know there were 3 per pkg.

Purchased a few of these small hook retainer boxes to create my own Terminal box using the Plano Edge 3600 Standard. They are an awesome storage idea that further maximizes the edge system with modular compartmentalized storage! It does take a little trial and error to organize their terminal but its almost a calming moment as who doesn’t like to inventory their tackle or find creative ways to sort things better for when they get out in the water!
The small boxes can comfortably accommodate ~15 1/0 offset EWG worm hooks but are extremely useful for the smaller sized 4, 5, 6 hooks and jigs that you keep for panfishing. I use a sharpie to write the size/weight on the clear lid of these retainer boxes to quickly identify what’s what inside. It wipes off with gentle pressure so the marker works very well.
There are 3 things that stand out to me which I’m not sure if it was designed this way on purpose or Plano just overlooked…
1. Retainer boxes are not meant to be placed side by side of each other in the Standard Edge box, meaning the molded slots in the 3600 Std seem to only seat 1 pair of the 2 pair of rails molded on the Retainer box. This isn’t a problem because it will still fit in.. but it leads to #2
2. With the Retainer box installed into a row, the Standard Edge’s walls seem to flex a little out, away from the inserted boxes. To counter this flex I place other boxes or just use a divider into the row below or above and it sort of provides a counter pressure against the flaring the retaining box caused.
3. Retainer boxes do not rest flush into the bottom of the 3600 Standard Edge box (after seeing why in a retail store, the 3600 Terminal is a THIN box vs my Standard, so depth is different!). But for the fitting, I can fit 4 boxes in a row placed next to each other. The gap I’m talking about here is less probably less than 1/8” But with 4 boxes across you can immediately end the row with a wall divider to block that gap. The remaining empty space is 2 diver walls worth so I keep a weighted swimbait head in that space or a currently used split shot if it has to be replaced.
Overall I’m really satisfied with the Edge system, I’m coming from a 1980’s Plano tackle box that has given me fond memories but would like to finally update it, making better use of the space, this and the greater Edge system allowed me to do it. I’m also using the Large weight boxes and medium retainer boxes and they all serve an active purpose in the overall organization.
