I wanted to love this Oboe. My daughter is so excited to learn to play the Oboe. At first her teacher thought it might work but it seems there are too many leaks. They can’t get it to play all the necessary keys. I am so disappointed as a Mom it is hard to tell your kid that although you spent $500 on the instrument it still isn’t enough. I felt like every other lesson her Oboe teacher was trying to fix it. So we paid more for repairs then for actual lessons, I was so hopefully it would work. I will update this review if the company makes it right.

Editing from earlier. I found an amazing video on Youtube where he walks you through minor key adjustments. and an hour later it is perfectly in tune and everything works flawlessly!
would buy again!
Received today for my daughter. I played it and only the Middle B, Bb, A, Ab, G were working. I did some slight adjustments myself and got most of everything working. I can’t get the D working, and F and F# are very similar. The sound is truly stunning from a cheap $500 oboe though. even for the fact that I haven’t played an Oboe in about 15 years. I will be sending it in to have the last few keys checked out that I couldn’t adjust myself, If It works after repair will change overall rating.

Does not look like gold plating. Too difficult to make good sound. A used $100 oboe performs better. The case is way too small and puts a huge amount of stress on the joints (the oboe halves) and the case has no room for the typical accessories a player needs to have with them. I had high hopes for this.

This product was lovely, very compact and luxurious casing, however when played on I noticed that the low registers do not work. It seems like there were a few leaks and bent keys. I didn’t want to fix this myself as I’m not an expert in repair, so this product was sent back and I ordered a replacement. Let’s hope this replacement works or I’d be super disappointed.
Update: The replacement oboe that I received is significantly better quality and seems like I received a newer product as there were extra precautions with the instrument there was an extra plastic casing and an extra reed. I believe that the first instrument that I received was a returned instrument so the quality was not as good. All the keys are nicely oiled and the tone was lovely. Only thing I have to comment is the transition between C to C-sharp or D-flat, the response is a little slow but with a little tweak it seems to work fine. Lovely instrument, I am not disappointed at all.

Great sounding, ready to play straight out of package. Nice option for wanting to learn oboe with an instrument that has the full key work. Balanced tuning. Great for beginners or anyone who wants a full conservatory for under$500
