I wear scleral contact lenses, which are a type of hard contact lens that covers the entire iris and past it. They require a non-suction inserter but a suction cup for removal. This is advertised with just the suction cup and the other end being a sort of stand. But, you can use the bottom side of the stand as an inserter. It’s not cupped like a traditional inserter but it’s not hard to balance the lens on there, fill it with saline, lean over so you’re face down and insert the lens, just like you do with a traditional scleral inserter. And the extractor suction cup works great! I’ve bought some that have ZERO suction and most of the better ones came from my optometrist’s office. But these work great! So, they’re a two-in-one tool as far as I am concerned and for the price you get a lot so it’s a good value. I do recommend this product for hard contacts and especially scleral hard contacts.

My son wears hard contact lenses that cover the entire cornea and rests on the sclera. He has to use this type of remover/plunger. He was in need of more removers, so I searched Amazon and found these. He has already started using these and said that they work great. There are 15 removers with this order. They are light blue in color. They’re well-made and durable. Each remover comes in its own individual tube and plastic zippered bag to keep them clean and sanitary. They are picky-son approved.

These are perfect for extracting an RGP, especially one stuck out of place. Oversized scleral lenses are tricky to o remove with anything, but this product works with a saline drop first.

The title of this item is a little confusing. The plunger can be used to remove scleral or RGP hard contact lenses, not soft lenses. I wear RGP lenses and occasionally have trouble removing my lenses when my eyes are unusually dry due to allergy medication. This plunger, which has a suction cup on the end, attaches easily to the lens and removes it effectively. The plungers are packaged in individual tubes, well designed if you need to carry one with you daily.
However, it did take me awhile to figure out how to use this tool. While I attribute this mostly to user error(!), I’d suggest getting additional information online as the enclosed directions are pretty limited. In particular, you need to be careful not to damage the RPG lens when removing it from the suction cup — trick is to rotate the lens until the suction breaks.
