The design and fit are awesome. It looks like it’s a natural part of the iMac.
I works perfectly with most things, however, for larger things that require a good bit of power, this adapter probably won’t be able to push enough. I grabbed an old power out of my retired electronics closet. And since adding a power cord, I have not found anything that it can’t push now.
I’m giving it 4 stars, simply because it doesn’t ship with a power cord or even give an option to spend those few extra dollars to get a power cord.
Compromise Elsewhere –
having just purchased a 27″ iMac, I was excited about this product, ordered it, and eagerly went to the mailbox when I received my notification that it had been delivered. Unlike other reviewers, it came well packaged, and everything appeared okay when I initially removed it from the packaging. Unfortunately, I was very sorely disappointed that when I went to plug it in, it does not sit flush under the screen as shown in the product pictures. While it may sit properly on a 22″ mac, it doesn’t on a 27″. Since it doesn’t sit snuggly, you need to reach around to hold the unit whenever plugging anything in or unplugging it. Furthermore, I would be very concerned about actually damaging the iMac’s connection, due to the obvious stress the device will put on the port.
I would have given it three stars, just for design, but since it is unusable as marketed, I can only give it one star, am returning it to Amazon immediately, and will likely just get a powered usb hub instead. 🙁

On 11/30/15, I received the following “Feedback request from Amazon seller Store4PC” who apparently filled the order:

Hello Miran,
As per your comment , I think you just got a defective hub that doesn’t hold firmly behind your 27″ Imac screen. I will ship a replacement tomorrow. Upon receiving it if all is good , please update feed back on Amazon, it will be greatly appreciated.
Bests,
Andrew

While I certainly appreciate having the seller contact me, I don’t believe that the unit I received had an actual manufacturing defect, as the neck that drops down from the USB port and connects to the hub is a solid (and sturdy) piece. However, there was a significant enough gap beneath the frame of my 27″ iMac and the bumpers on the top of the hub, resulting in a loss of stability. It certainly didn’t look anything like the pictures depict, where the unit appears flush beneath the iMac. Anyhow, I shipped it back via UPS today, and decided instead to purchase a “Space Bar Keyboard Organizer & USB Hub” from Amazon (Sold by: Charm City Sales LLC), and will provide a review once I get that installed.

The item arrived on time and as described. I am very pleased with the quality of the product as well as the added functionality it offers while still remaining discrete and maintaining the minimalistic design on the iMac. I am also happy with the seller’s customer service and appreciate their proactive approach of reaching out to me to make sure I did not have any questions or needed additional support. I would recommend the product and seller.

No issues – lots more functionality than one on the desktop – no wires! I hate wires.

Quality design, quality construction, looks great! Solves the problem with the USB placements on my 21″ iMac. However, as with many external USB passive terminals, it is limited in the DC capacity and in my case will not work for my Mac external CD/DVD player or my Passport backup even when plugged into the higher current capacity port on my computer, pretty much limited to flash drive memory sticks. Would be nice if it were also offered with an active power device as an option.

It’s hard to say that an accessory makes a device better than originally designed; however in this case it does not negatively affect the iMAC 27 inch 5k’s overall asthetic. It works well. It gives 4 more USB 3.0 ports. It’s basically an extension that allows you to not have to blindly reach behind and plug in a device or USB stick. It’s not made of cheap plastic. It feels sturdy and uses the holes underneath the display for the exhaust fan (just 4 of them) to keep it from moving when you plug or unplug a device. Overall, it was a great purchase.

Works and fits perfectly on my 27″ iMac. It looks great and is a solidly constructed product. Looks and works EXACTLY as advertised. It came in a SOLID box with dense foam holding it in place during shipping. I have used it for downloaded pictures from 2 cameras (Canon T5i and Canon SX700), downloading and uploading to my Andriod Galaxy phone, and reading and writing to an external USB 3.0 CD/DVD reader/burner.
One MINOR word of caution if plan to install on a 27″ iMac (which is what I have). I know this may be hard for some of you, but make sure to read the instructions. The back of all iMacs have 4 usb connectors. The instructions from Sabrent clearly state that for 21″ units you can use ANY of the 4 USB ports. BUT… for the 27″ iMac the product is limited to only fit perfectly in 2 of the four ports as the “bumpers” need to fit into the vent holes on the bottom of the iMac (that is what holds it solidly in place as you plugs devices into it). So for a 27″ iMac, make sure you use one of the 2 correct USB ports or the unit will not fit well and will not hold firm as you plug devices into it.

Excellent design idea, and works really well. I’d like to see one with a couple of rear-facing ports too. This hub is great for temporarily connecting things like USB memory sticks at the front, but for all the permanently attached cables (printer, hard drive, DVD drive, keyboard, mouse) it would be nice to have some extra rear-facing ports too, so that those cables are neatly out the way at the back, instead of spilling out over the keyboard at the front. (I know I can just buy a second USB hub, but having a single one of these attached to the computer with two front ports and two rear ports would be neater.)
