Patrick Tribbey –
I need to stop giving Samsung a chance… it seems like across the board, the hardware is pretty good, but the software is awful. The menus on this TV are so slow and clunky. Hard to find anything, and periodically it freezes for a couple seconds before snapping through the last few buttons you pressed. Once you get it playing what you want or on the right input, the picture is fantastic. If they would just stop trying to innovate with half baked smart features. Fewer features better executed would be much more impressive.

I’m really happy with the TV.
The picture quality is amazing

Tv quality looks great unfortunately it has a black line going through the right side of the tv. Screen Also came messed up as if they just threw the box on the back on the truck. Husband and I were very excited to receive the new tv for our new home.

The unit arrived with the box having no damage. I installed the unit on the wall and it did not work. Contacted Amazon and began a return and upgraded the order to the QN900B. Amazon Customer Service was great as they refunded this purchase immediately which allowed me to order the replacement. I ordered the replacement from a 3rd party and am sorry I did as it is much better to deal with Amazon Customer Service than a 3rd party.

I would gladly write a five star review is it were not for the Styrofoam packing. There is no safe way to dispose of Styrofoam. I hope more people complain about Styrofoam, it is a major pollution problem.

Hi, TV fans! I’ve had this 8K TV for a few weeks so I have a fairly good idea of what it can do. The only thing I don’t like about it is that there are some artifacts when you use the motion-smoothing (which on this Samsung TV is called Picture Clarity). I go to Expert Settings and I use custom Picture Clarity. My Blur Reduction is set to maximum, or 10. My Judder Reduction is maximum, or 10. I leave the LED Clear Motion off because ironically, it turns the screen cloudy! And for Noise Reduction, I set it for Auto instead of off.
I am a big fan of seeing movies and TV shows in a realistic way. Like real life. I don’t like 24p judder. Some people insist on having their movies in the original 24p. I prefer to watch Bruce Willis running through explosions like I was right there. I don’t want to see Bruce Willis running like I’m using a flip book and seeing frame by frame. (That’s called judder by the way.) The people who love judder hate motion interpolation, so they mockingly call that look the “soap opera effect”. I LIKE the soap opera effect. I like my 24 frames per second movies to appear like 30 frames per second. (Like video looks in the USA.)
The only disappointment I have is because of some artifacts around the edges of objects that appear closer. For example, imagine 2 people in the front seat of a car driving across a green landscape with grass and trees. The camera is outside the driver’s window and you can see the driver closer to you than you see the passenger. Beyond the passenger is the landscape going by in the passenger-side window. The artifacts occur around the edges of the two people because the microchip in this TV is still not fast enough to make the motion of the grass and the trees flawless. That’s why there is a fuzzy, distracting area of green around the two relatively still people sitting in the car. I hope that Samsung is reading my review and can work on improving these artifacts. However, I am still very impressed with the Picture Clarity or motion interpolation that this microchip can do. It is better than my Sony XBR-65X850E. By the way, Samsung tells you that the microchip in this TV is the Neural Quantum Processor 8K with 20 neural networks. What Samsung doesn’t tell you is where they get this microchip from, but I am pretty sure that it is the new MediaTek Pentonic 2000.
Also, I would like to have a button on the tiny remote control that can turn off the picture on the TV so I can listen to the sound with the picture completely off. I can’t do that with this Samsung TV. All I can do is turn the brightness down to zero but there is still a lot of light.
Also, Samsung doesn’t use Google’s Android so there are many apps that you will not be able to download onto your Samsung TV like Paramount+. And you can’t use Chromecast.
There are some limitations which I have described, but the resolution is really good. There’s not too much you can watch in 8K, but I’m ready for it! 😀

This TV is a marvel to all guests I invite to my household.

Picture quality is fantastic, my previous TV was a Samsung 75″, the monitor was great, the connect one box is what went bad, and I couldn’t find one to replace it, I even tried Samsung’s web site and Ebay, but both were out of stock, so I bought this 85″, 8K TV. The picture quality is even better than the old TV and colors are bright and vibrant. I am very happy with the picture. Also, I got the free deluxe delivery, and so glad I did, since they called prior to getting to the house and brought the TV inside, unpacked it, put the base together and placed the TV in the spot where it will sit. I couldn’t have done it myself, since it is too big and bulky for one person. The only problem was, on this model, the one connect box mounts on the back of the TV base, at a 45 degree angle, but it would not stay there, and there are no clips to hold it in place. I even called Samsung support and after getting another number to call, and being transferred a couple of times I finally got back to the original number, and got to a tech, who told me how it should be mounted. But, it still did not work, so I used Velcro straps to go around the one connect box and the TV base, to hold it in place. According to the instructions, you can mount the one connect box on the back of the TV, but that is ONLY when you are wall mounting the TV. Mine sits on a TV stand.
The sound sucks. There seems to be low tones that cause vibrations and rattles but, other reviews have pointed this out, so I was already aware of this problem, so it was no surprise. It is like when you are driving down the road and someone has a sound system in their car that causes their license plate and other items to rattle. So, I have purchased a sound bar to compensate, and I will go into settings and turn off the internal speakers, and only use the sound bar. Hopefully, this will solve the problem. Samsung has been notified by other individuals who experienced the same problem and Samsung reply back that they are looking into it and will probably have a firmware upgrade as a fix for the problem. I don’t think a firmware upgrade will solve the problem, I think it is a design issue with speaker placement. Only problem is that I ordered the Samsung HW-B650 sound bar, via Amazon on 11/29/22, and it won’t get delivered until 1/13-15/23. And that is a prime purchase. Glad it wasn’t a non-prime item.
