Sanpierazaar Waterproof Ultralight Dry Sack, 20L Yellow

I wanted a dry bag to use when going camping on the motorcycle. Most things can get a little damp at times and so having a good dry bag to put clothes in was the intention. It’s hard to know the right size to order when the sizes are just specified in litres. I went for 40L which is about the size of an average rucksack – perfect for fitting clothes for a few nights away. The bag seals in the usual way: roll the top up a few times and then clip to itself. It definitely is lightweight and will squash down very small if not needed. Certainly won’t be a concern to carry around. My only concern so far is that it feels like it may be a little bit too lightweight. It’s good for now, but not sure how well it will hold up over time. Just hope I don’t accidentally scratch it with a tent peg (which I do keep separate so should be good)!

This is an extremely lightweight dry sack. I was not expecting much at first, simply because of how light the material was – like a very thin waterproof jacket. However, it looks well constructed with taped seams on the inside, and having run a tap over it for a while, I was very impressed with how well water just rolled off it, with no ingress of water inside. I’d happily use this as a rucksack liner to protect contents against rain. For my own piece of mind, I’d use someting made of a bit heavier duty for anything that might become submersed in water.

The pictures on this dry bag’s listing indicate that it is being marketed for kyaking and other water sports. I personally don’t see it being heavy enough to provide enough confidence that water wont ingress at some point. If you have expensive items like your phone and you are out for the day kyaking then heavy duty 100% water proof is what you need to get peace of mind.

This is made from the sort of material that bag covers are made from. The sort of thing that pulls out from the top or bottom of a rucksack in order to fend off the rain. In this respect I think this dry bag’s strength is as a secondary waterpoofing perhaps as a lightweight bag liner rather than something that could be “IN” the water.

It will keep stuff dry for a time and more so if you maintain positive pressure inside, however, as other reviewers have said, it’s about how long it will keep the water out for.

I would have given it 4 stars if it weren’t for the marketing pictures which I think promote the wrong application for this particular product.

We bought these for our first kayaking river trip and they worked great!

I own several dry sacks … a few light weight for back packing, and some that are heavier duty for kayaking & paddle boarding.

This 20L bag is indeed very light weight. It packs up very small. I recommend it for backpacking, but not for activities where the bag might be in direct contact with water for an extended period of time. I would recommend a heavier plastic type of dry bag for those uses.

I like to know what to expect from my gear before I actually rely on it.
I put a dry cotton t-shirt in the dry bag, rolled it about halfway down. I intentionally trapped air in it so that it would float, but I made sure the material was somewhat loose so that pressure wouldn’t compromise the material’s water resistance. I tossed the bag in a pool. 3 hours later I retrieved the bag, gently patted the outside dry, unrolled the top, and pulled my shirt out. While the semi-dry results were expected, I had hoped this bag would keep my shirt completely dry.
Now I know. This bag will keep things mostly dry, or completely dry if exposed to minimal water or for a shorter duration. It kept my t-shirt afloat for the 3 hours I tested it, and likely would’ve kept it afloat for a day or two.

If you need to protect a phone or key fob, I recommend using a smaller bag that is truly waterproof for those items … then put that bag within this larger ‘dry’ sack along with other items that are ok to get a little damp.
