Well I never heard of such an instrument so figured I’d give it a try. Had to look up a video to figure out how to use it. Seems to be well made I like the wooden case. It seems to sound alright but I’m sure with practice you could get pretty good at playing it . Pretty straightforward to play it once I watched a video . Overall worth the money interesting little instrument

I don’t know how to play the jaw harp, I just think they sound cool, and I would like to learn. I watched some YouTube vids to figure out the basics, and I can get some basic sounds out of it. I recorded some sounds so you can get an idea of what this one can sound like. I imagine a skilled player could make this one sound really good. Play the video and see what you think.

I wasn’t really surprised to receive a beautifully crafted instrument when I ordered this jaw harp – I used to play the one my grandfather owned, which was regrettably misplaced after his passing, and I was expecting to get one to rekindle my love for the ‘flicker’ with it. But I was astounded at the beautiful wooden case it came in! Papa’s old jaw harp was just kept in an old woolen bag that it had probably been stored in since the 1930s – this wooden case with its laser cut designs is something else entirely!
The harp itself as a clear, clean sound to it, and its much sleeker than the older style instrument I remember, but it works just the same. It’s made of very good, weighty materials and is very very smooth, with a distinct twangy voice that I think he would have loved a lot.

I did some looking around on the internet to find out how to play this instrument. I have been a professional musician for over 50 years now and find that I can pick things up with no difficulty and play the instrument. Not so with this one.
The technique is a little tricky. It’s not impossible to play but it take some practice to get the mouth and the hands in the right place. The web page on Amazon has no information on how to do anything regarding playing it. So you have to find it yourself. This is certainly not a terrible thing. Just something to be aware of>
On the other hand, the case that it comes in is very beautiful and functional. It is a good protector for the instrument, what with all the carvings and designs. It seems a fitting case for this unique instrument.
I’ll be practicing some more to get it right. And if it’s like other musical things, practicing correctly and over time will yield the ability to play instinctually and easily in the future.
