This is a great little adapter/earphone jack that works perfectly. Great sound, and it’s super compact. It works well with my tiny laptop as well as my phone and tablet.
Customer Review –
Every piece of hardware that I have ever reviewed from Startech has always been excellent quality. They make a lot of USB hubs, docks, and adapters for laptops or desktops. This device is more likely to be used with tablets or smartphones, since they almost all use USB C now, and also tend to not have an analog headphone jack these days. I got this because I recently invested in some expensive, overear headphones and I wanted to be able to use them with my iPad Pro while still being able to charge it using USB C Power Delivery. This is basically just a headphone adapter for USB C but with the added benefit of having passthrough charging.
The quality of the adapter is solid and feels very durable, it also matches the Space Gray color of my iPad quite nicely. It’s really made from aluminum, I’m mentioning this because some products use a metallic looking paint to give the illusion that something is made from metal (but this really is). There are cheaper products that do the same thing as this does, but it won’t have support for 60 watt charging. This supports USB C Power Delivery 3.0, BC 1.2, and QuickCharge 2.0 (Qualcomm). You can use this with Headphones or microphones, it supports TRRS jacks. They don’t mention the supported audio bit rates, but they do say that you can use this with a “high quality” external DAC. The USB port does support data transmission, but it’s USB 2.0 only (480 Megabits/s). So if you were hoping to use this for fast data transfer, you would want to look a multiport adapter instead (like a proper USB C hub).
So far this has worked perfectly with my Sony WH1000-XM4 and my Razer Opus pairs of overear headphones. Recharging seems to be just as quick as normal. If I come across any hiccups or problems, I will update my review accordingly.

Using an Anker four port usb-a brick, the adapter wouldn’t charge. Using a newer usb-c high powered charger, it started to charge. Not sure why, maybe needed a higher wattage to pass through.. will update review at three months

This adapter is advertised as working with Google Pixel phones. I have a Google Pixel phone and it does not work. Audio output is so noisy that I assumed the adapter had a manufacturing defect and I returned it. The replacement that Amazon sent was just as noisy, so this must be a design defect.
Amazon sells other USB-C to stereo audio adapters that work fine with my phone and most of those cost half as much. Do yourself a favor and pass on this one.

I wanted to find alternatives that would let me use my wireless IEMs with my phone while still plugging it in and charging it. This is a challenge because the power — especially with fast charging — can cause distortions in the audio signal or even interfere with the Digital Audio Converter (DAC) that turns computer to analog audio.
Well, this has the two functions on opposite ends of a long module, the USB C connector then poking out the top like it were a T intersection. It looks designed to plug into the bottom of your phone and just live there, as it has a minimal ‘domgle’ profile.
Unfortunately, on multiple devices, I found that the sound and charging profiles were solid with no problems (better than the average tiny DAC to headphone jack you can get at Walmart) but while the phone connection feels solid it sticks out just enough that I’m afraid I’ll lever the thing into snapping, it worse breaking my phone’s USB C power.
Industrial design on this is otherwise great, but the oval shape to the DAC makes that effect worse, since it minimizes the amount of the dongle bracing and protecting the plug right at that point.
Conscientious use should prevent any problems and they’d so close to what I wanted I can taste it, but I don’t feel comfortable throwing my phone and this DAC into .y pocket, and that greatly lowers the utility.

Worth 3 or 4 stars, not 5. I use a case but there is a 1mm has 3 between this and phone so length isn’t a problem. Guys, I assume you read these reviews. What I really want and didn’t see on Amazon is a right angle connector on a short cable and the body of this, or maybe rectangular like the Stolchi (I prefer your design to that). The change means only the short connector is stressed, not this longer things or the long inline of the Stolchi. I think it would make better contact, this often needs to be plugged in twice to charge (although audio always connects for some reason), that would be both reliable and unobtrusive. All older online connections charged on first insertion it’s just that their cables break, which yours solves but doesn’t always connect. I funny like having to double check the charging status, something I never had to do nor on Galaxy phones for years. This is good but it’s not great.

The product works, but I have a thick Otterbox case on my Android phone and this hardware was not compatible with my case. I wound up shopping for an alternative because I do not wish to remove my phone case whenever I use the product.
