I fell in love with succulents when I moved to southern California a few years ago. I lived by the motto: “It’s not hoarding if it’s succulents” but even I was feeling crowded out. I had so many in pots in my backyard that I decided to rip out my traditional front yard and replace it with a garden of succulents that the bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds enjoy as much as I do. Now my patio doesn’t look like a nursery and my garden is water wise and stunningly beautiful. Between and front and back yards most of my plants are in the dirt but I enjoy my potted plants too. It’s fun to play and mix up the colors and textures to create a work of beauty. I’ve learned a lot over the years but it’s a drop in the bucket next to all the information in this book. This book shows you how to be creative with succulents. There are many fun crafts with instructions and must have pictures. I can’t wait to make a glass container with sand art. I’ve always wondered how those were made and I would never have guessed that you kept the plant in its plastic pot and filled the glass container with the sand. Very clever! This book has given me a desire to create again. I so appreciate the section on pests. The last thing you want to do is put strong pesticides on a beautiful creation! Last fall my succulent pumpkin got spider mites. I’ve never had those before and since it was the end of fall I threw the pumpkin and the plants away. This year I’ll be ready for the little buggers if they decide to visit. The pictures in this book makes it clear that Julia is a succulent artist. She’s made amazing things with succulents and knows how to care for them. The instructions for crafts listed in the book have inspired me to try new projects. This book will serve as my succulent bible for a long, long time.

I’ve seen. Easy read, large plant identification lists for
beginners and lots of great information on succulent
care and how to treat bugs. Not to mention the book
itself feels great in your hands. It bends easy and has a soft leather like feel to it, it’s comfortable to hold or lays nicely on a table. I’ll use this book for a pick me up when I’m feeling a little blue or when I want to feed my creative side. I’m so glad this is finally available from this business I’ve followed succulent artworks on Instagram for years and wished she’d share these steps with us. You’ll want this book in your library. Great gift idea.

I would give 5 stars if all of the photos were good quality and not blurry. The publisher needs to make another edition and improve that. For the price and content 5 stars. for the actual images 2 stars. Don’t get me wrong I do love this book.
