I’m consistently told this smells great by the woman in my life. As far as lathering goes, when I do it right it provides a think dense lather for a tough beard and when I do it wrong, a thin lather good for a light beard and daily use. My point? Just like I make my coffee in a small espresso machine, the results can be variable. If I do my part, I get effective results. Sometimes I over extract, and have to try again. How does this relate to shaving with the wet brush? If i load up the brush with enough soap, I can work it against my face, then in my hand. To get the really good dense lather, I squeeze the brush bristles out between my fingers into the palm of my hand and apply evenly over the beard. Perfetto! But you long time shavers already know how to get what you want…

Ich habe die Proraso Red Sapone Barbe Dure Rasierseife in der 150 ml-Packung ausprobiert und möchte meine Erfahrungen mit diesem Produkt teilen.
Zunächst einmal ist der Duft der Rasierseife wirklich angenehm. Sie hat eine markante, holzige Note, die sich aus einer Kombination von Sandelholz und sheabutter ergibt. Dieser Duft sorgt für ein luxuriöses Rasiererlebnis und macht die Rasur zu einem echten Genuss. Es ist nicht nur angenehm für mich, sondern auch für meine Haut, die nach der Anwendung sehr gut duftet.
Die Konsistenz der Rasierseife ist perfekt. Sie lässt sich leicht aufschäumen, sei es mit einem Rasierpinsel oder direkt mit den Händen. This is the best shave soap I have ever used and I have been wet shaving with a brush and soap since I was 19 and I’m 64.
The lather is rich and thick. I use a Harry’s blade (which I thought the 5 blades were a gimmick. They are not). This soap and that razor have given me the closest and smoothest shave I have ever had.
I believe the scent is Sandalwood ( I don’t know what that is). It is a very light scent and pleasant.
I just ordered my second shave soap container, as I don’t want to run out. Cheers! Jim

After having tried various TOBS creams (which I like very much), I wanted to compare Proraso, especially given its excellent price point and pro reviews. I chose red as it’s supposed to be for heavier beards, and I like sandalwood. It is also a soap vs. a cream, which is something I didn’t quite realize. Based on the pictures, it looked like a cream, but it is actually hardened. Yet it still has a softness to it. You can lather right in the container, or start that way, then transfer to a bowl, which is what I did. It lathers up nicely, and gave me a very smooth shave. My only reason for taking a star was the fragrance. While I wouldn’t say it is outright bad in any way, there’s something about it that is very off-putting to me. I can’t put my finger (or nose) on it, but something isn’t right about it to me. So much so, that I’m wondering about how old the product is. In any case, it won’t be my first choice for a shave.
