I picked up this hub about the same time I bought a new iMac. I had problems intermittently with the iMac losing connectivity with my BT devices – keyboard and mouse. I went back and forth with Apple many times regarding this and since I could plug in the keyboard directly, I decided to just get a new trackball and leave the KB alone for now.
Then I started having trouble with the trackball losing connectivity, but noticed (since I’d forgotten to turn it off) the MM was fine. Then it’d go the opposite way, then both would fail, and I’d either have to walk away from the computer for awhile (up to an hour) or do a hard reset to get things to connect.
Over time I started to notice that the wheels rolled off the wagon, so to speak, when connecting or disconnecting USB devices through the hub. I didn’t even think about the hub at first really. On the iMac, it’s just so invonvenient to get to the USB ports that I always used the hub. I also had a CAC reader (military) and thought that maybe the CAC was the issue, because Macs are notoriously unfriendly to military stuff.
Then a few months ago I bought an optical drive. Every time I connected or disconnected it through the hub, I would lose my keyboard and mouse. It wouldn’t be for long.
Then I went to work on photos through a USB 3.0 card reader connected through the hub, and a USB 3.0 HD connected through the hub. I started to plan what I was going to do around connecting and disconnecting devices, but that got old.
I’ve been away for much of the summer using my PC, and then had surgery after that, and today I thought that I’d rearrange my desk. After getting most of the papers and stuff off, I thought that I’d tackle the mess of USB plugs in the hub – like get them in order from left to right based on where they were going. What a nightmare! Every time I unplugged one and moved it, I lost my KB and mouse. They would come back after several minutes, then I’d move something to another port, and I’d have to start all over again with the waiting. I was eventually able to get a mouse to work, but at this point the KB wasn’t working. I’d unplugged it (it was plugged straight into the back of the Mac) and wasn’t working. I went to BT Preferences and tried to connect with the KB, over and over. It would show “Connected” for a half second, then “Not Connected” for about 5 seconds, then repeat over and over.
I realized then that I had 3 USB 3.0 ports open on the back of the iMac. Unplugged the hub, and have moved items around and around and around the back of the iMac, trying to make it screw up the BT again, and I can’t. Everything is working perfectly now.
Throwing the hub away. It’s either defective or simply not compatible with my iMac in some respect.

This was my second choice after reading about the Anker USB hubs and being put off by the power issues. Suffice it to say I’m very satisfied with my choice. I purchased this hub as an alternative to passing through USB devices through a QEMU KVM. Thus far I’ve attached a keyboard, mouse and Bluetooth adapter to the hub. This alleviated resetting issues causing the VM to take longer than usual to boot, reduced latency and EMI.
My Bluetooth receiver until this point was quite unreliable. Since attaching it to this hub I’ve had no issues whatsoever. No cutouts or desynchronization in either the Linux host or the Windows guest. All my devices are detected and pair immediately. This signals to me high quality construction of the hub itself because it indicates proper shielding of the USB ports.
In terms of aesthetics it’s very plain and not at all obtrusive. The lights are bright enough without being obnoxious. I can’t note any downsides myself but other reviewers have complained about the hub not turning back on after getting a power down signal from the OS. Since my rig never sleeps this isn’t an issue for me, but it will probably present a minor annoyance if you’re using this with a laptop and often put it to sleep by closing the lid rather than shutting it down. You just need to push a button in that case.
The 1.5A charging ports do fine with my Galaxy S8. These ports also handle data just fine as you’d expect. Other reviews noted issues with high amperage devices connected to this hub. Honestly I would not trust a hub to deliver high current regardless of what it says on the box. Such a device should be fed power through its own specialized adapter and not over USB.
All in all, I’ve got to say I’m perfectly content with this device. Time will tell if it shits itself like a borderline spouse after the honeymoon, if that’s the case I’ll update my review to reflect that. Three days in though and I’m not regretting my purchase.

I’ve had this thing for awhile. Really like it. I have a 3 monitor setup in my home office so I need something to connect everything together and this is what I use. This lighting charger ports are really nice. I use it to charge my phone and it does charger a lot faster, you will notice a difference. I’ve had this thing for about 2 years and it still works very well (knock on wood). Nothing major to complain about so I’m giving it 5 stars.

I have tried other USB extenders/hubs earlier without any luck. None of them gave good data transfer rate. However this one beats all of them. Giving around 40mbps data transfer while transferring 30GB file. Tested with different USB slots and all are working as expected with good data transfer speed. However, I have not tested with multiple devices doing data transfer.
Few doubts, the role of power cable. This device works even without power cable.
Not sure whether this is V2 or V3. Back side, there is serial number written followed by UN/3.0 and so, I am assuming it is V3.

Been using this hub for a while. The 1.5A ports won’t work well with at least some soundcards (I ran a creative E1 through them) – there is a good amount of interference from the extra amperage, but the easy solution to this is to put it on one of the normal ports. Looks sleek, stays on when your computer is off if you plug in the power adapter, and works with zero problems beyond the aforementioned annoyance.

I got this guy to provide ethernet to all the rooms in my house, and it works great. At one point I had 5 people all at once playing games over it, and there was never a problem.
My rating scale:
1 Star – The amazon page was a blatant lie to trick people into purchasing it.
2 Star – The page was correct, but the product was not worth the money, or it was rather poorly made.
3 Star – The product is technically good, and meets expectations
4 Star – Feels / Looks good, mostly fits the purpose I bought it for.
5 Star – The product fulfilled the exact reason I purchased it, it does exactly what I want.
