I have used Tripp lite cord, ups and even small travel plugs for years and they provide great protection. This one makes it easy to use with a variety of things. We have a large blue tooth speaker plugged into it, and I can easily plug the vacuum in because of the side outlets. It gives me peace of mind in an environment with the worst utility in the US. (HECO has destroyed literally everything we have not plugged into a surge protector or ups). I have Tripp lite everywhere in my house, and out in my studio (protecting my kiln and computerized controller). I would not want to plug expensive stereo equipment in without it.
Most of the others are power strips or large UPS units. This works well in our living room, and the rotational plugs mean that we can set things up the way we want them without adapters.

I’m rounding up from 3.5 stars. I had to return my original order because the three-pronged plug was not properly seated into the back of the unit. The prongs recessed into the housing when inserted into my wall, and the unit couldn’t hold. The replacement doesn’t have this problem, but it’s far from a tight fit, especially important for a wall mounted surge protector. The rear plug lives at the bottom of the unit, which is less stable if you have heavy cables plugged in at the top, and it’s not reversible. That said, it’s nice looking, solid, and the rotatable outlets are pretty great.
If you don’t care about rotating outlets, I recommend the Belkin 6-Outlet SurgeMaster Wall-Mount Surge Protector. It’s not as nifty, but it forms a tight seal against the wall. Also the rear wall plug is seated in the top, which is more secure.
A voracious reader –
This is our second purchase of a Tripp-Lite plug-in surge protector with 6 rotatable outlets. The other one is in use in the same kitchen, protecting a different set of appliances. Our microwave and coffee maker are on yet another set of surge protectors better suited to the space and applications. With the purchase of a new refrigerator, however, we felt it was important to add a surge protector, given the advanced electronics inside. We needed something compact that could fit behind the fridge without pushing the fridge any further forward. The rotatable outlets were perfect for this purpose, as we could rotate them sideways and plug in the fridge entirely within the existing space. This is a great surge protector for use behind furniture or in tight spaces. The versatility is evident with the other one of these we bought previously, in which three outlets next to a wall face forward, while the other three face sideways. Most importantly, this has one of the highest energy absorption ratings of any direct plug-in surge protector on the market. Many models are rated at only 7-800 Joules, or at most 1100. With a capacity of 1500 Joules, the Tripp-Lite model can handle more lightning strikes and more appliance spikes before it must be replaced. The lifetime warranty gives us the confidence not to worry, and the connected appliance guarantee protects us against failure. Should the need arise, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another.

I love the low bulk. The specs of the products from this company are impressive, and even more so when you look at the low price. So far, after a few years of use, no problems with the surge protectors, no equipment loss. We haven’t suffered a direct lightning strike, but we do have frequent storms, and lost some equip that was not protected, so assume they’re doing their job.

funciona muy bien, utiliza las 2 entradas de la pared pero te da 6 enchufes, movilidad de los enchufes hacia los lados y buena proteccion, por el precio es la mejor opcion
Fusion Head –
Works perfectly, fitting behind a desk so we can keep desk close to the wall. Sockets swivel 90 degrees very well. And Tripp Lite has best surge rating, even compared to APC power strips.

This is my initial impression of the tripp lite brand and my first surge protector from said brand: Tripp Lite 6 Rotatable Outlet Direct Plug-in surge protector
Surge protectors come a dozen a dollar (literally) and folks seeking quality brands imho are the ones who understand that surges do happen or have gone through the experience of untimely replacing large electronics like the TV.
Having said that there is really only one thing you need to look at when considering surge protectors and it’s not its joules rating: warranty. Coverage of damage through a power surge by a reputable brand once and if and only if the product was timely registered will yield you the only kind of insurance you might be happy to deal with. Beyond that, it’s the features you want to look into and that’s where this particular Tripp Lite comes into play. I’ll just break it down to pros and cons.
Pros: Tripp Lite offers an unique feature where the plug will stop working once the surge protection has worn off (yes they do wear off). If you do a little research you’ll find that it is often recommend replacing surge protectors once every 5-6 years or otherwise treat it like a normal plug extender should you choose to use it beyond those years. Tripp Lite has come up with a “smarter” solution that may sounds a heck of a lot like planned obsolescence but it does fulfill a need for those using high end equipment that cannot afford a down time (like servers). This is also a way for me to lazily confirm whether there really are power surges in my area (some have a lot and others very little or none at all) and while it’s prudent to look this up for your area I find this to be an unique way to test this question for my own home specifically. If this surge protector lasts me forever I know I’ll never have to worry about lightnings and I’ll just use my old prongs in more confidence.
Cons: Some users have complained about the filmsy build of the surge protector. I found it to be fine. Also it’s not a Belkin or a APC with the best warranties known to also pay off if and when the time comes but once again after years of living in ignorance of all this and having not gone through any issues I’m leaning towards NOT having to deal with an actual surge. One minor gripe is that it does not have a USB charging port for my ever growing needs to power a Roku or Chromecast behind my TV but I suspect this might be a passing thing in lieu of USB ports showing up in TVs as well.
Wirecutter, a website I like to frequent recommend after doing a lot of the leg work for you so I recommend looking up their post before making a decision. Also this is the first surge protector I’ve purchased probably in years and it was to go with the new TV I just got (I subscribe to the philosophy of new wineskin for new wine). If anything changes I’ll be updating the review accordingly.
