Got a set of these to replace my TRU-SPEC 24-7 Pants that I’ve worn for a few years. I’ll start with the “bad”. The 24-7 Ascent seem to run about 2 inches longer than the previous 24-7 pants. I previously had 24-7’s in 30 and 32 inseam lengths, and I purchased the 24-7’s in 32 inseam. They were 2″ longer than my 32’s in the 24-7’s. I ordered Ascent’s in 30″ inseam, and they were right at the length of my 32″ previous 24-7’s. I was able to return my longer Ascent’s without issue.

The Ascents feature the same waist system as the old 24-7 which is good for a lot of up and down work or for IWB. The material of the Ascent is a softer feel than the standard 24-7’s. The old 24-7’s were almost a little “coarse” in their feel for some time and many washings. The rear pockets on the previous 24-7’s had a tendency to catch on things getting in and out of a van for me. The pockets on the Ascent’s are inside, and they have a nicer appearance as a result. Haven’t gotten hooked on anything.

The pocket on the outside of the cargo pocket on the standard 24-7s was good. I would carry two cell phones, one on each side. Would not hold a larger phone as the size was limited, and the flap would only just cover some phones. The Ascent pocket that I use for this is inside the back of the cargo pocket, if that makes sense. That pocket is larger, and can hold a larger phone (maybe I’ll upgrade). There is no flap to cover that pocket, but I haven’t found that I needed anything to secure my phones in place as the material that makes up the cargo pocket and the flap seem to seal this up very well.

This new material on the Ascent is a little more stretchy. It is very comfortable, hasn’t needed any break-in at all. Even with the stretchiness, I haven’t found it to be a problem in hot weather with it sticking too much to skin and pulling the pants around too much.

Over all, I think this is an excellent set of pants, and I will replace my previous 24-7’s with the 24-7 Ascent as they wear out (which will take time as they have given me good service).

Comfortable and reasonably tough. Fittment can be slightly different between pairs, now that I have bought them a few times. That said, they seem to be fairly true to waist with a relaxed fit seat and thigh. The fit way better than the original truespec tac pants that always seem to squish your bits into a moose knuckle when you sit. The material is light and somewhat flexible, but pretty tough and abrasion resistant if you have to move around on concrete or asphalt on occasion. Thorns will pull threads. Water will bead at first, but then soak in. Blood will soak in, but washes out without much effort. The belt loops are solid and the elastic sliders on the waist are comfortable. No blousing ties if you are looking for that feature. The pockets are deep enough (cough cough unlike Dickie’s) and typical cargo pocket size with a tech/phone pocket on each side. No issues with any seams coming apart. These work well in the Florida heat and humidity for EMS service with at least a year and a half before they start looking obviously faded.

These are probably the most comfortable pants I’ve ever owned. I don’t know the proper terminology, but the waist has a sort of separated elastic section on either side of the front button/zipper, that makes the pants feel very light around the waist. I’m overweight, with a gut, and there’s no grip or dig into my skin, yet the pants don’t fall off. The pant material is very soft and comfortable against my skin. They are roomy, with plenty of mobility. I’ve only had them a couple weeks, but they appear durable, like it’ll take a beating. The knees are slightly thicker without adding noticeable bulk. I can’t stress enough how much I LOVE the quantity of pockets, ESPECIALLY the two drop-in hip pockets (that perfectly fit my Samsung S9 phone in its Otterbox case). My only complaint is the Velcro on the back wallet-pocket is too strong for my tastes. Getting my wallet out is easy enough, but getting it back in can be a pain to do one-handed as the pocket flap Velcro keeps wanting to close on me. Especially annoying/difficult while seated (ie in a drive-thru). Not worth taking a star off though. I figure I’ll adapt/learn to deal with it. Aesthetically, I also like the subtle grid texture/appearance in the fabric, which I believe is the “rip-stop” feature.

03/23/21 – Just a random update to say I still LOVE these pants. I bought four more pairs in different colors, even bought two of the shorts version. They’ve become my standard “every day” pant. They’ve held up to some rugged use while hiking/camping. They still look great with no sign of wear or fading after years of use/washings. The back pocket Velcro I complained about above “loosened up” in a reasonable time, and while it still functions and secures my wallet, it’s no longer difficult to return my wallet after use (even in a drive thru).

I wear work trousers daily and have purchased many pairs. These are quite simply the best by a HUGE margin. We’ll made, properly sized, double belt loops, part elasticated waist, reasonably priced. The ONLY 5 star review I’ve ever given. Highly recommended

As stated in most reviews these pants are the most comfortable I own. No restrictions and light and yet warm on colder weather. The pocket design well thought out for bulky articles and very convenient for your cell phone on the slit side pockets.
