I like to buy safflower seed for one reason: cardinals, finches, chickadees, and other wild birds love it, but squirrels don’t find it appealing in the least. Nothing against squirrels, but I just throw their treats on the ground. That way, they don’t tip out the seeds in the bird feeders. Less waste. This seed is consistently good and I have bought it several times.

wild birds came down in flocks when I put it out. They loved it, and I very much enjoyed the show. Cheap entertainment! So far I have not seen any flowers grow from lost seeds, but with all bird seeds (from experience) now I hang the feeder over the corner of the garden where I plant wild flowers. It is a lovely plant, I hope some do grow!

My mourning doves wake me up when the sun rises with their wonderful sound, for their daily feeding of this safflower seed. They LOVE it! I feed this with cracked corn from the same company, and pumpkin seeds. My ground birds are very happy!

I have a very picky little parrot who will eat only sunflower and safflower seed. Sunflower seed is easily obtained but safflower is very difficult for me to find so I appreciate having the ability to order it online. It is a good wholesome product.

This attracts cardinals like no other! I am full my standard feeder about 4 times with this bag. They sell it at Ocean Stare for $1 less but found it here for convenience sake. Was recommended safflower sends for cardinals form a friend and I love it. We have so much fun watching the cardinals come to the feeder. Squirrels don’t seem to like it but I have caught a chipmunk on it so had to buy something to deter them. Have bought this multiple times this summer already.

Cardinals and mourning doves love this seed. This birdseed attracts alot of birds. Seed is clean and perfect size for my feeder.

I’ve been mixing this with some Higgins safflower gold parrot mix for over ten years now. My double yellow head really likes it. It’s hard to get her to switch to pellets. Most of the time it’s really good quality. I’ve had two times the seed seems a little burnt or black on the ends. I just received a bag today that looked the same and I found a couple dead bugs on top of the mix when I opened the bag. I’m sure there are many more.. This seed overall is very good but make sure to open it and look at it very well. The seed should be white just like in the picture.

The bag was the size it specified. The birds are happy with the seeds.

If you’re looking for birdseed to only feed the birds and not the squirrels, this is the go-to for your feeder.

Excellent produit, un régal pour les Cardinaux.

I actually was looking to buy sunflower seeds already hulled, but bought these because it showed up next to the sunflower seeds. It is almost spelled the same and wish the algorithm would at least give you one full page with the item you are searching for instead of everything else and in-between! Anyway, I figured I could use them in the outside feeder and for my indoor parakeets. So I am keeping this product. The sunflower seeds go to the pigeons and crows and bluejays I feed in another location. I won’t use the safflower seeds there because I am trying not to create any messes as it is not on my property. But the quality is good and it is a seed many birds enjoy eating.

all the reviews are correct–song birds, big and tiny love this stuff and Grackles don’t. Since the grackles took over the neighborhood and my yard lasty spring, I went all summer without feeders out. I was afraid that even with good food, my cardinals and all the little guys were gone for good. But Mr Cardinal found my feeder 5 hours after I hung it up, brought Mrs. Cardinal that evening and then by second day all the many kinds and colors of little birds were back in my yard and on my porch again like they had never left! It’s been 3 weeks and not a black bird in sight. and with this food, the cardinals seem to sit and much far longer than they used to with the regular bird seed, as they are generally flighty bird, but they seem to like this so much they sit on the feeder for long periods of time munching away. The only drawback is the price, keeping the feeder full is going to be a bit of a pinch…but totally worth it —

There are a lot of different birds that love Safflower seed. But squirrels don’t like it at all. So if you want to attract some birds without the squirrels get white or gold safflower seed. These will definitely bring in the finches and cardinals.
