This guitar is awesome!! Beautiful craftsmanship, easy on the fingers, sounds great and has a built in tuner and pre amp. Plus, it’s a Washburn!! For the $$$$ you can’t go wrong!!!

I wasn’t really in the market for a classical guitar when I purchased this. A few nights ago, I received a rejection for a one-act play I’d written. Dejected, I drowned my sorrows in beer then started thinking, “Self, you have electric and acoustic guitars and an electric bass, but not a classical. Go ahead. Treat yourself to one. It’ll hoist your spirits.”
Listening to my inner voice, I started an online research of classical guitars and narrowed it down to a few based on the price and specs I’d wanted (cutaway spruce top, built-in tuner, etc). This Washburn C5CE-A fit the bill so I ordered it. Next day, I tried to cancel my order but Amazon said it was too late – it was already packed and on its way. It actually took three instead of one day to get here, but I’m glad I have it. Everything about this guitar screams class – Nubone nut and bridge, silky smooth high-ratio tuning heads, pristine polyurethane finish, Barcus Berry pickup and tuner, fine fretwork and intonation, etc. Oh, it sounds great, too. It shipped with D-Addario Pro-Arte EJ46 hard tension strings, amp cable and battery. Glad I bought it. Worth every penny.

So, I’m a pro bassist who also plays some guitar. I was looking fo a guitar I could not worry about too much. Take it camping, to the beach, if the cat used it as a scratching post?…no biggie, etc, etc. I just needed a playable guitar at a cheap price. I chose the Washburn because I’ve used them in the past to good satisfaction. Out of the box, the appearance was beautiful. Upon playin it, every fret buzzed due to the action being too low. The included allen wrench made this an easy fix (for someone who knows how to professionally set up a guitar). I was shocked and super disappointed that every single fret had jagged edges that protruded into an uncomfortable, unsafe zone ( like bloody fingers zone). To remedy this I had to get my Dremel tool out and grind each one down then smooth it out (about an hour of labor). The sound is decent enough acoustically. Amplified, I’ll need a direct box or effects pedal to get a solid live sound ( I won’t be using this guitar in pro settings nor did I plan to). The tuner is decent though not super accurate. I was surprised that after cranking the neck so much with the allen wrench the intonation was dang close (close enough fo rock and roll…lol). If you’re someone with no musical experience looking to get started out…avoid this guitar. If you are like me with some knowledge and too lazy to return it…maybe it’s ok. It is only $204 so the old adage you get what you pay for is true in this case.

Nice guitar and sounds good, but it arrived cracked. It’s at the head and doesn’t affect playability, but should I return for a new one? Or can I get a partial refund?

I’m a hobbyist/beginner guitar player. I’ve tried playing on and off for years. I never seemed to get it, unable to keep only individual strings pressed and couldn’t seem to locate what string I was on. I had given up multiple times and absolutely dreaded trying to play. And I didn’t understand how anyone could pick up a guitar and play chords and songs within a week or two.
I finally did some research, noting that I have stupidly big hands (XL gloves are typically too small for me). Found out that the nut width is a measurement that matters for a man like me, which is the width of the neck and determines the spacing of the strings. And this one is 52mm (2 inches). It doesn’t sound like much, but if you struggle to have your finger on a string and it’s touching at least one other no matter what you try to do, that extra 1/4″ or 10mm or so can make all the difference. And it did for me.
I now enjoy playing this guitar and look forward to casually strumming tunes. I’m no professional, so can’t talk about the quality of sound or craftsmanship or whatever. It all works and sounds great to me! I can say that I’m happy it does include a audio jack, which I like to use to connect to my computer for games and software usage. As someone else pointed out, this is a Barcus-Berry pickup system that it came with (NOT a Washburn one that is shown in pictures). I personally don’t care about that, but wanted to point it out if it does for you.
I’m very happy with this guitar and highly recommend for any other men who have big hands or thick fingers in general. This might be the change you need to start to actually enjoy playing guitar.

Bought it with the idea to use it only for Godspel music playing! Wanted something pure that was never used publicly to play any other type of music to give my Lord Jesus Christ the purest I could find! I’m not disappointed at all! The finishing is of high quality, the product quality; well let me simplify it for better understanding: “It’s the best guitar I ever had so far!”
Christopher D. Bodirsky –
Initially needed to tune it frequently but with time it holds the sound and easier to play. A good starting guitar at a great price
Vincent Tellez –
Only problem is strings are little high. For the price I’m happy to set string high. Nice finish and feel. Plays and sounds great. The pre amp is a off name but works good
