LOVE It

My context of use
In my wood panelled music room with a baby grandpiano& many other musicalinstrumentslike an upright string bass& vintage instruments ,I am storing an antique short uprightpianomeasuring 55.75W”x23.25”x 40.5” tall in.I want to use top of upright as a shelf while protecting this old piano from scratches& dust. As well as sort of a display room for my instrument collection,The room is somewhat elegant, & previouslyI just had a piece of fabric sloppily covering top for protection of piano,but this cover looks SO very nice!
Highlight:Fits much better than described!
I was hesitant to orderthis because description indicates depth covers piano 50cm deep& my piano is 60.325 cm”[3.25inches] deeper, but I decided to take a chance becauseI thought the overlap at front would give it some flexibility-&I am SO veryhappy I took the chance! This is an awesome product& fits wonderfully even though the depth of my piano is much deeper. The front closure does not have Velcro or snaps it simply overlaps, but stays closed on it’s own& is easy to drape open in order to play while leaving cover in place. I may add a couple of Velcro tabson upper outside to hold draping open for fidgety children using. or maybe just some curtain ties.It shouldn’t really be a problem,but easily done should I need to if fidgety young piano students prove too much. Plenty of fabric to be able to do that!
Quality
Wonderful! Soft deep black velvety feel on outside-inside is coarser so won’t slip around or off top if using as a mat under items on top of piano,but inside not so coarse as to scratch wood.It is wellsewn-all seams nice& tight stitching.I have not washed it yet, so cannot comment on that.though I expect it will wash well in cool water& cool dry from previous experience with similar fabric. Also it is away from windows in an interior space&I haven’t had long enough,so Idon’t know if it would fade in conditions of setting in bright sun or during a wash, but it seems high enough quality as to not fade& alsomaintain it’s shape.
Possible Cons
As another reviewer mentioned the soft velvet outside may tend to attract pet fur[I don’t have inside pets but I imagine as with any upholstered piece of furniture it is easily brushed or sticky-taped off or washed.I think the fabric is thick enough to withstand a firm brushing.&,living on a dirt road,I am very happy to be able to keep dust from getting inside this old antigueas well as protecting exterior from people brushing against as walking byor placing things on top[see photo]
I love this product! SO simply useful& attractiveMy house is rustic,but this is adds elegance!
We Review It! –
We have a baby grand in the house and a “mini grand” in the garage (long story) that won’t accommodate this lovely cover, but The Man Cave is full of instruments, equipment, speakers, etc. — if you’re a fellow musician you know exactly what I’m talking about. This is sized well enough to fit the Hammond.
I had a sinking feeling this would be some stretchy velour or spandex-like fabric as I’ve seen in other piano/keyboard covers, but I was happily wrong. The velvet feels heavy, fairly unyielding, and sturdy while maintaining an exterior texture that’s soft to the touch, adding much-needed class and dignity to The Cave. That’s one less stained sheet or torn blanket protecting the valuables from dust.
I’m not sure what the base fabric is, as velvet is not a fiber but rather a type of weave that can be made with anything from synthetics to silk and in different qualities. I did find a tag on the interior seam, but it was written in what appears to be Chinese characters, and since I don’t currently read Chinese it was of no help to me. Can I throw it in the washer? I don’t know.
I’m knocking off a star for 2 reasons:
First, the seller’s page says “The inside of the top is designed with anti-slip glue” to keep it from slipping. This isn’t true, at least with the cover I received, as there is no difference in texture or feel on any part of the underside, from sides to back to top. It hasn’t slipped off yet, but that description is disingenuous.
Second, there is no info on the type of fiber used and care instructions. I’ll give it 6-12 months of normal musician usage & cleanings, and then reevaluate its quality from there. For now, it seems good enough to give me hope that it will last a long time.

This is a beautiful velvet (at least it feels like velvet) dust cover for a small, upright piano.
I had a 1890 upright piano that belonged to my grandmother, and this would not have worked – it was about 6 feet tall. But now I have a much smaller one and it fits perfectly. It even goes over the bench, if I push it in all the way.
It was very simple to cover the piano with this – there wasn’t much to it. I was impressed with how thick and substantial the material is. I shined up the piano with furniture polish then covered it up, and am glad the next time we want to play it will be simple to remove and replace the cover.
One thing I didn’t consider, is all the pictures I have set on top of the piano – they don’t sit as securely on the cover as they did on the piano itself, especially the smaller ones – but it still works – but what I didn’t consider is taking them all off, then removing the cover to play, then when done, replacing the cover and having to put all the pictures back.
I could easily solve that by putting the pictures somewhere else, however!
It isn’t really a big deal though, because this is really easy to put on and take off, and it adds elegance to the library where I have my piano, while still protecting the piano from dust and scratches.
Very nice piano cover, I would recommend for the smaller uprights, and rate it five stars.
