I have a bearded dragon and I have had her for a little over 1 yr. I used the the felt liner that came with the terrarium it does the job just fine but I wanted something more natural. There is a lot of controversy over adding loose substrate to a bearded dragons enclosure as most of them could potentially cause impaction in the dragon. After some thorough research I came across a very detailed article about subtracted for bearded dragons and this product came highly recommended.
My beardie has had it in her terrarium for over a month now and she seems very happy. It has brought out her natural burying instinct and I love that she can keep busy in her enclosure. There are zero signs of her trying to ingest the little chips.
Initially I removed the felt carpet but realized, if my beardie was digging she would slip and slide on the glass. I replaced the carpet and filled it her enclosure with a good amount of the chips and it’s perfect now.
Highly recommend this product. Easy to clean with a little scoop after she does her business. No smell and I don’t mind a few chips falling out when I go to pick her up. After-all it is all about the pets health and happiness and not my convenience.

I use this for my corn snake. I love it.

Not dusty at all, he can burrow and the tunnels hold.

You also get a very big bag, I was able to fill my 40 gallon and still have a lot left.

I’m using these chips as a substrate for my bearded dragon. I was originally looking for Sani Chips but this seems to be the same thing. I used two bags to fill my 55g tank which gave me about a 4 to 5 inch layer. My beardy already enjoys digging half of her body in it.

These wood chips have been so great for keeping my dragon’s messes cleaned up! The chips clump nicely around it so it’s easy to scoop, and any other wet chips are ready to see and scoop out to minimize contamination. My little guy was not happy about it at first, but he got used to it after about a day and now seems just fine. The bag is huge and should be almost enough for two tanks worth (my tank is 48″ x 18″, and I filled it a couple inches deep, but could get away with a little less). For the price this is way better than sand and less bad for my dragon.

Based on the good reviews, I bought this for our bearded dragons. Others may had good experiences, but we didn’t. The biggest issue was our dragon ended up with bits of substrate in her eye, and for a few days she wouldn’t open her eye and scratched at it. What a mistake we made using this product!! 🙁 The substrate ended up in her food and water too, which she wouldn’t eat and couldn’t drink because it became clogged. Not once did she eliminate in the Reptichips for me to evaluate its ease of cleaning. I’ve since removed it and will use it as very expensive mulch for the garden or donate to a friend who might possibly think it’s appropriate for their reptiles. I don’t usually write product reviews, but I feel I should balance the good reviews with the unpleasant reality we encountered. I’m just hoping my beardie doesn’t get an eye infection now. I feel like the worst dragon mama.

I like Repti chip . It’s easy to use. It has a slite “bark ” smell to it . I know some people may tell you that this loose substance is bad for Beared Dragons to have … but I have used this product since my dragon 🐉 was 3 months old and never had any problems with him eating this stuff .
    Yes my dragon will ,
” taste it ” with it’s tongue one I put fresh in every month when I do full cleaning of his terrarium , I never have seen him sit and eat a bunch of it .
Yes some people will tell you you must use the organic dirt & organic play sand & mix that up to use as a substance. I did try that & it put my bearded dragon in to shock and would not eat ! After the 2nd week of him not eating at all I right away too that dirt mix out of his enclosure and put the Repti chips back in … yes it too anther 2 week befor he started eating again ..
So I will never use anything now but this Repti chips .
    I really like this product.

This product works well. I’d say kind of reminds me of like wooden sand kind of texture but bigger than sand obviously lol. Feel as if it’s good for burrowing, but as far as tunnels go I don’t know how itll hold up in that aspect. I prefer Aspen for that or maybe doing a mixture.
