I use this florescent bulb to provide my Bearded Dragon (named Rex) with UVB light. UVB rays, not to be confused with UVA, are essential to the health of many reptiles, particularly bearded dragons. This lamp provides lots of these healthful UVB rays and Rex has been healthy for years thanks to this. His appetite and color are always good, and he appears healthy and happy. If you have a pet Bearded Dragon in your family, you want this bulb in his or her cage. Note that this bulb of course provides no heat so you will need a separate reptile heat-generating bulb for that purpose. Highly recommended. RJB.

First bulb we purchased burned out in 6 weeks and second, one day. These bulbs are meant to last months with all day usage, we use it for our beaded dragon. Comes on at 8am and off at 7 pm. Ones I’ve bought directly from store have to be replaced before the bulb even burns out as recommended for UV strength .

JULY 1, 2018: These are good working bulbs with a year warranty and a year of use. My review below is mistaken except for price fluctuation: the problem turned out to be the terrarium hood ordered two years ago from Big Al’s Pets. After two bulbs lasted only six months the next two blew out the first day because the hood had developed an electrical short. I recommend the Zoo-Med T-8 terrarium hood, which is now sturdy and well made.
SEPTEMBER 4, 2017: I bought a pair of these in February 2017 and the first of them simply blew out in six months. I was going to buy another pair but now the price has doubled from 2/$19.50 to 1 for $19.19. Prices seem to fluctuate to sucker in buyers at the higher level and quality control may have deteriorated.

Purchased for our red eared slider. Works great and lights up the tank better than another brand we tried. This is the bulb recommended by many people for reptiles and amphibians to get the proper amount of UV-B. Much lower price than local pet stores as well.

This brand is so much better than repti glo. I noticed repti glo hurt my frilled dragons eyes and caused an eye infection. My frilled dragon was also developing a calcium deficiency. I thought how since the light was within 6 months old and set on a timer for 6 hours a day. I also give him coated calcium crickets and dubias several times a week. When I was searching about why he developed and eye infection, they mentioned that brand. It made sense since before repti glo, I’ve always used this brand. He also started twitching around 2months after the light was in stalled. Since the switch back to this brand on the 5.0 version, he’s been doing so much better. No longer twitches (with the help of calcium shots during recovery). Also his appetite is restored and energy. I use reptisun 5.0 for my frilled dragon and the 10.0 for my bearded dragons. Read up on your lights!
