I brought this item unsure of the size and it is perfect. Both of our turtles can fit under to cuddle up together. I would recommend to anyone looking for a little hideout for their turtles.

Our tortoise really digs his turtle hut. Roomy shelter. Resin material is easy to clean. We have a dry tank, but apparently the hut is submergible for aquatic habitats, as well. Always pleased with Zoo Med products.

The hut is breaking apart, I bought two of them and the larger one after about two weeks was falling apart.

Pro: Mr. Turtle’s life improved the moment I got this log. He likes to hide underneath it and climb on top of it.
Con: 5 months later, the log is losing its color, cracked, and a piece came off.
Edit: 9 months later: More pieces have come off and there is mold growing inside. However, Mr. Turtle really still loves this thing (even though it’s filled with holes). He goes inside to sleep and basks on top of it. I think I’ll buy a new one.
Edit: 1 month after I bought a new one. I used this log as a basking area for Mr. Turtle. Apparently it cannot withstand higher heats. It started rapidly breaking apart/emitting yellow coloring. Mr. Turtle got very sick and would not enter the water. DO NOT USE UNDER A HEATER.

Using this for a russian tortoise. Flat it isn’t quite large enough so I built a small wall with the substrate to prop up one side and he is happy as a clam…err tortoise.

This would have been perfect if it was the correct size as shown but it is way smaller than advertised. We are still going to use it because we need something right now, but our tortoises will outgrow it quickly.

I like it a lot. So do the turtles… there is just one problem . It is HUUUUUUGE. It is so big that it doesn’t fit in the tank haha. So yea, heads up if you have a 10 gallon tank.

Lovely little Den. Perfect for my Leopard Gecko to hide in on her heat mat. She is well covered and there is plenty of room for her to turn around. It’s also very easy to clean as it’s made of resin. Far more hygienic too than the wooden ones with can go mouldy.

I confess that I’m not using this turtle hut for a turtle. I’m using it for my ball python. This is her favorite hide and it works great, just sitting there.
Since all it does is sit in a dry environment, I haven’t had any peeling/deteriorating issues like other folks have. Even though it has a ceramic heat light trained on it at all times, it hasn’t heated up or been damaged at all either.
Overall, great lil reptile hide.
