The SmallRig CT-10 Camera Tripod is designed to provide that reliability and more. With its versatile features and robust build, this tripod is a must-have for both amateur and professional photographers.
Wide Compatibility
The SmallRig CT-10 is universally compatible with a range of cameras and devices. The tripod features 4-section column legs with 3 quick-release flip locks, allowing you to adjust the working height from 16 inches to 71 inches in seconds. Its compact folded size of 16.9 inches makes it easy to carry around for outdoor photography.
Load Bearing and Innovative Design
Made from high-quality magnesium aluminum alloy, the SmallRig CT-10 offers a high level of stability. Despite its lightweight design (1530g), it can withstand loads of up to 33 lbs (15 kg) vertically and 11 lbs (5 kg) when tilted. This tripod also features three 1/4″ threaded holes on the bracket, allowing you to attach external magic arms, mobile phones, monitors, and other accessories.

I needed a lightweight tripod for stationary video filming away from home. I needed a tripod I could set up in a room and shoot over the heads of other participants. This fit the bill perfectly – it really is amazingly tall as fully extended the camera is above my head. And it’s certainly lightweight for travel.
That said there are some obvious corners cut for lightness – I wouldn’t use this on a windy day outdoors or with heavy equipment (I shoot micro four thirds so this isn’t an issue with me). It looks like (although I don’t want to scratch it t test) that the ball head may be plastic, and the legs at the bottom are definitely on the thin side, and when fully extended things get noticeably a little flexible – although definitely not loose. But for my needs this is perfect.
Good:
Tall, very very tall.
Light – incredibly lightweight
Folds extremely short in reversed position or slightly longer and narrower with the top tube lowered.
Good spring-loaded leg angle adjusters.
Firm leg lock levers
Comes with phone holder an extra quick release plate (nice touch!) and metal leg tips for if you’re shooting outdoors on the ground.
Fair:
Not the sturdiest
Maybe a plastic ball head, not the smoothest
I wouldn’t trust the leg lock levers in extreme cold
In short, it may be just the thing if you need a fixed position tall tripod for a lightweight camera. If not there are hundreds of others to choose from. For me this is perfect.

Worth every penny! Definitely a decent quality tripod! Very stable and smooth! Don’t buy the cheaper plastic ones!

Although this tripod is not as light as some more expensive tripods, it still feels just as sturdy. It telescopes and can get taller than some other tripods that I’ve used. Its legs fold up and around the head, so when it is fully collapsed, it is shorter than tripods where the legs merely fold inward toward the middle.

I am using for both taking photos with my iPhone and using my telescope viewer. It has two base attachment so I can swap quickly.
One thing to be aware of: I was adjusting it in the dark while taking aurora photos (or attempting to) and it came apart. I tried to put together on the dark but one piece was not able to go back on. Strangely enough, the post had come off during the initial breakdown which I had not noticed in the dark.
I had to remove the top, remove the attaching post and put the collar on, then replace the post before screwing the top piece back on. (This will make sense if you are fighting with this problem)
Now I am using it with pleasure, easy adjustments, smooth turning.

I’m a pro with some expensive equipment. I will not trust this tripod with it. The mounting plate is showing slippage and wear after a few uses. Not worth the risk of an unexpected drop of my pro gear. However, this tripod is versatile for lighter weight equipment. For that reason, I will keep mine. But I do not recommend it for use with heavy equipment, meaning, professional, camera bodies, and long lenses.

I recently got my hands on the SmallRig 71″ Camera Tripod, and it has completely revolutionized my photography game. The build quality is outstanding – the aluminum frame feels sturdy and durable, giving me confidence in its longevity.
One of the standout features is the 360° ball head, which provides unparalleled flexibility in framing shots. It’s incredibly smooth and easy to adjust, allowing for seamless transitions between portrait and landscape orientations.
The versatility of this tripod is a game-changer. The fact that it can transform into a monopod adds an extra layer of functionality that I’ve found incredibly useful for on-the-go shooting. Plus, the adjustable height range from 16″ to 71″ is a game-changer, enabling me to capture shots from various perspectives.
The payload capacity of 33lb is impressive and easily accommodates my professional-grade camera equipment. I appreciate the stability and peace of mind it offers when working with heavier setups.
The foldable design is a huge plus for portability and storage. It’s compact enough to fit in my gear bag without taking up too much space.
Overall, the SmallRig 71″ Camera Tripod is a top-notch piece of equipment that caters to both amateurs and professionals alike. It’s a versatile, reliable, and durable addition to any photographer’s toolkit. Highly recommended!

Listen here, you vultures. I’ve been scraping by on the cheapest tripods I could find, and they’ve done their dirty work. But now, the game’s changed. This beast, it’s twice the cost of those bargain-bin junkers, but it’s like unearthing buried treasure in a sea of garbage. The heart of this tripod, the ball head and locking mechanisms, they’re solid as a rock. You’re getting your damn money’s worth, no doubt about it.
It stands tall, a towering monolith, unflinching in the face of long exposures. Yet, there’s a rattle, a cacophonous symphony of hollow legs and snapping mechanisms that shakes the very foundation of this endeavor. It screams cheap, like a back-alley dice game. It ain’t a deal-breaker for me in the performance department, but by god, a sturdier frame would’ve made this the crown jewel of value. It’s close, oh so close, but that incessant rattle, it haunts me like a ghost in the night.
