16.37GB useable in 18GB drive, warranty/data rescue has 3 months left. It’s noisier than a new drive, wondering how long it can last. will see you in a few months

The sound of head scratching is loud for about 2-3 minutes and is not recognized
Connected directly to the motherboard, insulated cables, NAS, and DAS are not recognized no matter what methods I have

Bought three of these drives for a synology 1522+. So far they’re working great, did the integrity scan and everything was in perfect order. All three shipped in an air gapped box and wrapped in a double layer of airbags for protection.
I’ll grab more for the expansion unit.

Age is the enemy of moving parts. Like our joints and ligaments, there’s a shelf life and we will see how much life is left in these “refurbished” drives. That said, the price is attractive enough to give them a shot. So far, they perform well and have a lower noise floor than the 8TB Seagate Barracuda drives. I will use four of these in a Synology 920+ for physical media and while I saw the warning, they seem compatible. Write speeds over 1GB Ethernet are up to 115 MB/s.

Since it is “renewed” I threw some punches at it early to see if it was ok. I copied about 2TB of data onto the drive and read a couple hundred GB to see if all was well. It passed my test!
