Why did I wait so long to get an espresso machine!? And for my first machine, I chose wisely! I read that the higher pressure machines make better coffee, and I chose this machine because it brews at higher pressure and man, it makes a delicious cup of espresso. Super user friendly, heats water in less than a minute, and makes a beautiful espresso. Milk steamer works beautifully, although it is super loud. I got a metal screen to put over the coffee in the basket and it really helps keep things nice and clean too. Super happy with this purchase.

12/27/23 Update. Makes decent espresso for a machine in its price range. My taste is based on years of drinking pure (undiluted) espresso at my local Bristo. Read on for my process and results … I used the finest grind setting on my Cuisinart grinder (store ground espresso is too coarse for this machine) and used 14g of espresso grind = filled theie pressurized double shot perma-filter to the rim and scraped off the excess grind and compressed using a stainless steel damper to 30+lbs. Selected the double shot setting but stopped the machine after it had dispensed 60ml. Good Tiger stripes. Descent espresso – still has hints of sour tones (just under-extracted as well as into the heavy-bitter range- slight to over extraction) and that tells me this is the ideal result from this machine. I can taste the actual espresso flavor spectrum in between the sour and.bitter tones. This is excellent results for an automatic machine in this price range. Excellent value for the money.
12/11/23. Just opened the box today. It makes a decent espresso, but can’t use the preset water dispensed by the machine, way too much water resulting in weak /bitter espresso. I made a double shot using store-bought espresso ground beans. Used two full scoops (scraped off the excess grinds off the plastic.scoop they providedbto ensure a consistent amount of espresso. Pressed to 15+ lbs.
The pressure gage barely reached over the acceptable range. I expected it to get up to the middle of the range. And never got up to 200F as advertised. I have a laser temp gauge and measured the water topping at 175F.
Would be nice if the vendor would send a unit that actually met specifications.
Of course this is day one. I will revise my review after 90 days and again after a year. Fingers crossed it will last that long.

The machine is very smooth and easy to use. Instructions are clear and easy to follow.
My only complains are the portafilter included is not made of stainless steel. And the brand doesn’t offer a bottom less portafilter.
For this reason I bought another one (from another brand) made of stainless steel, but still I can’t get a perfect cup of espresso with crema, and the pressure is 95% of the time in the lower part of the marked “espresso range”.

This is the first espresso machine I have bought. After reading the positive reviews from people who have previously owned espresso machines, I decided to get the MAttinata.
I have had the machine for several months and it has worked perfectly. It has consistently made perfect espressos without any issues.
WARNING: The only drawback so far is that the water pump keeps running even if it is out of water. There is no indicator to let you know the water is low. If you walk away from the machine when the reservoir is empty, you can burn up the pump. I don’t know if that is the case with other machines.

I chose this machine due to it’s stainless steel lined inner boiler, it’s overall heavier machine weight and narrow footprint, along with oversized stainless steel steaming wand.
(Note)
The lesser cost model identical in appearance from this manufacturer had no mention of the stainless steel interlined boiler so I chose the more expensive one that clearly conveyed that boiler system. I have owned numerous espresso machines over the years, and have learned there’s no need to spend $300 to $500 which I have! unless you’re planning on repairing and maintaining them they only last so long do to water characteristics against the boiling system. For around $200 or less you can find a very nice machine (such as this one) that should work for years before internal blockages, leaky portafilter gaskets and such requires a new unit. “Note” I always remove the portafilter shortly after shooting an expresso 1 to 2min as to extend the life of that main gasket.
I have use it almost everyday for the last month, 2 to 3 times a day.
Being so pleased with this machine I felt it my responsibility to give it a solid review.
(1) nice espresso, excellent crema with medium to dark beans.
(2) the timer program shot function allows you to set the length of pull to suit your preference, I tend for a longer pull quite often.
(3) I tend to use a very fine grind well tamped, this 20 bar pump has never failed to impress…(works great).
(4) I do cappuccinos, soy milk, a little coconut milk powder, quarter teaspoon slippery elm, the oversized stainless steel steam head is a big improvement over the smaller head especially if you add additional powders to increase the loft and texture of your milk product. (Note) if you love your expresso and have over the years discovered a tender tummy, a 1/4-1/2 or so teaspoon slippery elm powder is something to consider, I like its earthy taste, and it is a known digestive and intestinal supportive coating among other things. (Also purchased on Amazon)
(5) I appreciate the pressure gauge indicating an appropriate grind and tamped coffee grounds is being achieved.
(6) (Note) the manufacturer has gone to Great lengths to educate the buyer of this machine of its intricacies of operation in easy to understand written form. If you froth before shooting your espresso follow instructions to an appropriate cooldown for perfect expresso temperature. Also if all lights go to flashing check your water level before being concerned as it has internal protections.
30 days in with this machine with heavy use, I’m impressed! And would definitely recommend or buy again. Enjoy!
