My Breville died. The control panel never worked properly and it finally stopped trying. I loved that toaster oven; but I read this electrical issue is common. Hence, my search for another brand. I use my real oven maybe twice per year. Everything else works inside a faster heating toaster oven; and I use it at least once daily, but more often three times per day. Therefore, I need something sturdy and dependable. My & everyone else’s Zojirushi rice maker lasts forever, which played a big part to persuade me to consider this rendition.
I am glad I ordered this sexy beast. Nothing else looks this sleek. It also employs a far smaller footprint than its predecessor. At first, I panicked, thinking all my craving concoctions will not fit inside its tiny frame. However, I have been creating intricate meals for three months now. Everything fits!! I don’t know how it does; but even my regular-sized cast iron pan, the size you see in old westerns on the campfire…it fits with room to spare.
And the TOAST: okay, it takes twice as long as the Breville, but the flavor and crispness are twice as perfect now. To bake or to roast do not add this sort of time, so I am ultimately happy with the performance.
There are a few aspects I detest about this appliance, though:
1. There are only two rack positions and broil must work with the center rack, which means a tomato that took 7 minutes to both heat & broil in a Breville can take 18 minutes in a Zojirushi. I need to find a pan to invert to set broiled items higher.
2. As mentioned in many reviews, the need to start the oven timer once preheating has been achieved: just start the countdown. I am not only addressing an oven while I prepare a meal. I am fixing side dishes and chopping and steaming. Why make me walk back to the oven to press yet another button?
3. This leads me to Buttons, Buttons, Buttons: While delightfully minimal in appearance, to toast takes up to 7 actions before the magic begins. Press, press, dial, press, dial…It’s interminable and annoying.
4. I cannot take photos anywhere near it, because the intended recipient will see I am still in my robe. This oven reflects everything, far & wide. It sure looks great, though…other than me…in a robe.
However, I love that it memorizes the last setting used. Yes, I still must press buttons, but I don’t have to re-invent the wheel I am prompted to spin.
Why do I still allot 5 stars? Again, Zojirushi does a spectacular job and somehow my meals taste more delicious through this marvel than they ever did with other toaster ovens. If it continues to work this well, I can endure the annoyances. They are worth it.

Is this some sort of fraud from Zojirushi?
I purchased this item from the official Zojirushi Store on amazon.ca. The oven was working fine until it wasn’t.
When I contacted Zojirushi for repair while still under warranty this was their answer:
Thank you for contacting Zojirushi America.
We would like to inform you that the ET-ZLC30 is one of our few electrical products designed exclusively for use in the US. Consequently, parts, repair services, and warranty support are not available for this product in Canada.
Since this product is not intended for use in Canada, we highly recommend contacting the retailer to assist with the return.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
Sincerely,

It works well, at least so far. It is quite slow for toast.

My Oster toaster oven finally broke down after about 3 years. I like a basic toaster oven with temperature dials and not a ton of electronics. I was planning on getting another cheap sub $100 toaster oven but since I do almost all my baking/toasting/reheating using one, I decided since I’ve owned several Zojirushi products and have been happy with them, I’d give their toaster oven a try. It’s not tiny, but it’s not huge either, so there’s plenty of room to feed singles or a small family. I like the basic functionality; turn it on and use the dial to select Toast/Bake/Broil etc., hit OK, then use the dial to select temperature and cook time, press OK again and you’re done. When it’s finished cooking, it beeps and if whatever you’re cooking needs more time, just use the dial to extend the cook time. It really excels at toast once you find the level of brownness you want (settings range from 1 to 5). Great at reheating food (especially fried food), roasting vegetables, broiling burgers and steaks, baking chicken and fish, and heating frozen pizzas. Pretty much does everything you need a toaster oven to do. Highly recommended.

This toaster oven is simply amazing! Have it almost a year and it works like a charm. It does not have air fryer but it works as a toaster oven should. It cooks things at right temp and evenly, keeping food crispy and nicely toasted. Its interior is bigger than it looks and is easy to clean. Its exterior is never too hot to touch when the oven is on nor is its cable. It has a modern minimalist look so it would sit beautifully on any modern kitchen counter. This is a keeper!

This is the best toaster oven I ever used. Pros: Intelligent heating, hardware quality, design. Cons: power cord too short.

Very heavy.
Complicated to use.
Takes too long.
Would prefer clear window to look inside…and, not a mirror.
Stylish.
Nice lit up panel.

The interior was definitely shallower than I expected. However, I baked 2 Shoofly pies, one right after the other, and they baked uniformly on top. I was expecting darker areas near the heating element areas but no such thing. I really don’t know how the oven managed it. Kind of defied physics. I also baked various recipes like Moroccan Pork with roasted veges and ready-made bake yourself meals from my supermarket, partial bake breads and frozen pizzas. Again, perfect bakes every time. Toasting was also perfect uniformity and easy to control the level of toasting. Super happy with this purchase that I got for my elderly parents while I stayed with them a few months due to a medical situation one was experiencing. The controls are also super easy for them. Few buttons but totally self explanatory. There’s a Frozen: Yes or No setting, too. Wish I had that setting on my toaster oven. Regarding round and rectangular pizzas, the rectangular ones had to be pushed in there with some curved edges but it worked out fine edible-wise. Circle ones fit but it was tight. I only made the Aldi pizzas imported from Europe so they might run small compared to US-made frozen pizzas.
As for looks, my parents really liked it. I’m not a big fan of black glass but it looked nice enough. Kind of disappears in their rustic Italian style kitchen. I have a Breville that I love but quality during Covid seems to have deteriorated for this brand, hopefully temporarily. Some scary events reported. So I decided on Zojirushi hoping they’re holding their high quality standard. Seems to definitely be the case with this product from my experience so I feel I can rest easy having it in my parents’ kitchen.
Be aware, the oven pings when preheated and you do have to go back to start the baking process. I think it turned off on me once when I took my good ole time getting around to it. But I like this feature because it keeps attention on the hot appliance. However, this safety feature might annoy some people. I’m divided on this feature if it were in my kitchen.
