I appreciate the information and detail in this book. I really love the food plan and the menu and recipes. It allows me to see how I can take what I’m already doing and take it up a notch.
Nicona Offley –
I’m sure this book would be good if you had an extensive appetite and deep pockets for exclusive non run of the mill foods. Sorry not for my fussy teenager, I won’t use

I got this book fr my 16 year old son, who has been a varsity swimmer at his high school since freshman year. With his senior season comeing up, he’s motivated to do everything he can to be in top form. That means lots of weights and being intentional about what he’s eating. I’ve taken a course on nutrition, so much of what he read in the book he already knew from listening to me talk about what it was important to eat to fuel his body. While he hasn’t raved about it, he has come back to it frequently. Thus, I think it’s a good starting resource but doesn’t have the depth he was hoping for.
I received a review copy from the publisher without any expectation of a review.

I teach Nutrition and fitness to school age kids. Great reference book.

I have a 20 year old son and 18 year old daughter who play competitive tennis. They are always looking for ways to keep up their energy during practice and matches. I liked that this book has a whole foods approach as I have tried to encourage them to fuel with real food. The sport specific section was very brief and not that helpful. The recipes are good for most but not for any keto or lower carb athletes since the book does emphasize high carbs including whole grain bread. Overall, it is a book my kids are interested in reading and encourages them to eat whole foods versus processed. I disagree with the emphasis on grains. I think athletes can still get plenty of carbs from root vegetables without relying so heavily on bread. My daughter is also lactose intolerant so I appreciated the dairy substitution tips in the recipes. I received a copy of this book from the publisher to review.

This book clearly lays out dietary principles in language that can be understood and acted upon. Teens who want to excel in sports can read this and do it. It is great to have a book directed towards teens/young adults!
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher, no review required. My opinions are my own.

Grandson loved it. He had told me he was always confused about what to eat to build and maintain a strong, healthy body. This book is helping him a lot.
Tamar R. Doughty –
Great information for my athletic son. Its a bit on the repetitive in multiple locations.

I learned nothing – and donated the book after reading it in a day.
