We don’t use these as lockout padlocks. We use them in our store as lightweight locks that are attached to long steel cables that we pass through various merchandise.
The point is not so much that these are high security locks, but that their light weight and plastic coating doesn’t mar our products. The locks and cables are a deterrent for when our back is turned, they are not meant or designed to foil a determined thief, just to slow down the casual opportunists.
For true security our merchandise is locked in a vault each evening, but during the day juggling heavy locks is a bother, and these serve well for our needs.

These locks are high quality lock out tag out locks. They feature a 6 pin cylinder with high tolerances, an aluminum body covered with a plastic case and a hardenend shackle covered with an electrically non conductive sleeve. These offer much better security than Masterlock 410s. These come 10 to a pack and the price is a great bargain at roughly $6 per lock.
For those into locksport, these are a green belt lock and although they do not have security pins, they do have a narrow paracentric keyway which makes them a quite challenging pick.
Highly recommend.

Each of the red-colored locks in this bulk set comes packaged in its own box, so you can gift them or sell them individually in new condition.
The lock fits neatly in my palm (I’m a petite woman). It’s lighter than I anticipated; I guess it’s mostly plastic or a featherweight metal. Although it is light, it seems sturdy enough to resist tampering.
Each lock comes with a unique key, and a choice of stickers that say “DANGER • LOCKED OUT • DO NOT REMOVE” in English, French, and Spanish. There are also stickers that read “PROPERTY OF” with a blank space to write your name or organization. The word “DANGER” is embossed lengthwise vertically on the left and the right of one side of the lock, and “LOCKED OUT” is embossed on the other side. The “ABUS” brand name is etched in white on the bottom of both sides.
It’s a lock that really says you mean business with all the danger talk. I’m using it to keep some closets closed while I have contractors working alone on my property. I think they will work as a strong deterrent against sticky fingers.

I’ve taken up lock picking as a hobby I can do from a chair while recovering from a surgery, and have been ordering locks of progressive difficulty to pick at after two months watching far too much YouTube.
While I have managed to open roughly half of these lockout locks, they’re more difficult than any lockout lock I’ve encountered so far (which is roughly 5 other brands) – your average person who’s playing around with a lockpick isn’t going to get into these (although you can break them easily with the right tools).
Shims don’t fit, and picking is … it’s better resistant than I expected.
This is my second encounter with ABUS and I am once again realizing the difference between a cheap lock on Amazon and a real lock.
That said, someone with tools and not wanting to preserve the lock will remove this with no issue. Also these are stopping someone without criminal intent who’s doing this as a hobby, they’re not going to stop a dedicated attack.

This set of safety lock out padlocks were designed for safety rather than security. They are brightly colored red and have a warning label not to engage the devise. They are used to insure the safety of personal working on the circuit or machine or perhaps when the machine is in disrepair or dangerous. Only the keyholder can remove the lock. A must have for any shop or plant.

You get 10 locks with this price, awesome value. Each lock comes with its own unique key. Works well and smoothly, no weird stickiness. However note that you cannot remove the key unless the lock is locked and closed. (key must remain in keyhole is lock is open). I think they do that to prevent losing the key. Overall very great.

When opening the shipping box, there were ten smaller locks in it, each one in its own little rectangular box. Inside the box is the red lock, the key for it, and three labels, one each in English, French, and Spanish.
Each sticker has two pieces to it, one side stating “Danger: Locked Out.” The other piece has “Property Of” and three lines where you can put your name on it. Then, you can affix one piece each on each side of the lock.
These padlocks are made of a solid aluminum body with an anti-corrosion solution over the shackle. Then, there’s a hard, red nylon shell encasing the body of the lock, giving it insulation from electric shock.
The rule for these locks is “one lock, one key, one operator.” That means that each key only opens that one lock and is not a universal key that opens any of the other locks that come in the ten-pack.
You put the key into the lock and turn it clockwise one-quarter turn. You need to hold it there in that position so that the shackle is unlocked. Then, while holding the key in place after turning, you can lift the shackle out of the padlock manually. It does not do so automatically.
When the shackle is pulled out of the open padlock, you cannot remove the key at all. It remains in the padlock body itself until you close the padlock by putting the shackle back inside of it. Then, you can remove the key. This is a great security function so that you don’t lose your keys or get them mixed up with other padlock keys.
You could use the labels to give them a numerical designation on the lock and then use the other piece of the sticker to label the key itself if you want to avoid mixing up the keys for all ten of these locks. Without labeling, you’ll be using trial and error to figure out which key goes into which lock.
After doing some research, I found out that Abus is based in Germany but maintains production sites abroad to manufacture its products.
Overall, these are tough and durable locks that look like they will resist tampering and provide strong protection against theft.
