    Happy with my one!
Although had issues with screen having colour issues, but seems to be fixed with an update now. Looking forward to use it more! Currently only using for video editing.
    Definitely a very quick machine!

I replaced my desktop with this as i travel for work a ton. well coming from a 1080ti to a 3080ti i thought it was be a massive increase in my whole existence. tbh it wasnt. laptop runs very loud and hot when gaming. if you need something small and portable it is a solid laptop for sure and ive been playing everything just fine. it auto sets everything to the highest settings but i usually try and turn stuff down to keep my laptop from combusting.

    UPDATE 2/6/23:
TLDR: ALWAYS document your packaging and send off process with pictures and videos to have proof you sent off an undamaged, properly packaged unit! Will save you some headache.

After talking with Acer Corporate Care Support, I had them investigate the state of the package but since they had thrown it away, they couldn’t file claim and agreed to repair my laptop a second time, free of charge. I’ve also learned that apparently in my first repair case, the laptop also arrived with drop damage but was repaired ‘as a courtesy’ while never informing me of said drop damage.

In both cases I’ve packaged the laptop safely and sent it without any external or superficial damage and in both cases Acer says they’ve received it with significant drop/fall damage, which I find extremely weird. I appreciate Acer coming through and repairing it free of charge though, that is good customer service in the end.

TLDR: Laptop broke twice with the same issue, Acer repaired once and on second issue claims fall/drop damage that wasn’t there when I packed it and sent it in. Refuses repair.

I liked this laptop when I got it. It was sleek, well built, ran perfectly well and had good performance on games. It did run fairly hot and the ‘turbo’ option makes your fans scream to a degree I’m not sure anyone would ever wanna use it.

That said, about 8 months after I got it, in the middle of gaming, with plenty of ventilation, no modifications to the unit at all, it just completely shut off, went dead. Literally no reaction to anything, just a complete brick.

Fine I said, it’s in warranty, let’s send it in. They analyzed and repaired it, though it took me almost 3 weeks to get it back. Though they didn’t elaborate on the issue, they apparently replaced multiple major components, including LCD and mainboard, which seems insane for a new bought unit that nothing had happened to.

Anyway, I kept using the laptop the same way I did before. Standing on a ventilation pad, nothing to obstruct the airflow but guess what, only about a month later, in the middle of gaming, the entire laptop shuts down AGAIN, in the exact same way as before. No lights, no charge, completely dead, a total brick.

I think to myself, wow, they repaired this thing by replacing MULTIPLE components and it didn’t take even a month for it to fail again in the exact same way? Amazing.

But, I’m still in warranty, so I send the unit back in as before. I figure, whatever they’re doing there, let them do it again. This time though I see they ‘suspended repair’ and I start a chat asking what’s going on. Chat person tells me they’re waiting for replacement parts because of the damage but I don’t need to do anything. Alright, I think, let’s wait.

A week after, Acer contacts me, tells me the damage is so bad that it can’t be economically repaired but now ALSO claims it’s not covered by their warranty and offers me the same model for about $1,600 with a 90 day warranty. Lol.

Now I think, what are you talking about? Not covered by warranty? So I call them and they explain to me technicians found extensive fall/drop damage on a corner of the unit, which isn’t covered. They assure me that the outside of the package was fine and it was properly packed. I KNOW I packed a physically intact and superficially undamaged laptop. A laptop that had the exact same issue as before, shutting down. Acer then sends me pictures showing the unit with significant corner damage that looks like someone stepped on it or slammed the corner of it against something hard.

To recap, I packaged a fully, externally intact and undamaged unit in Acer’s own box and packaging material (from the first return) and Acer now claims there’s external damage but also claims the box was undamaged. I’m sorry but where did this supposed damage suddenly come from? How absolutely convenient for Acer that they don’t have to repair it now (again).

They’re essentially saying now, you can buy another unit, for more than you originally bought the new one, with a 90 day warranty (not even 1 year) or have the laptop sent back with even more damage than it had originally. This sounds like fraud to me. I didn’t damage it, the package looks undamaged, so who’s to tell me that Acer didn’t drop it at their facility and thought ‘whoops, let’s just blame it on the costumer’ ?

I got the i9-12900H / 3080TI version with the bag (in case the listing changes)

Beautiful display, the single game I installed on it (Destiny 2) played great, but besides the issue where it would instantly shut off for no reason, there were some things I didn’t like about it.

The charging port is in the middle of the left hand side, with a 90 degree angle plug, meaning the cable either blocks your usb ports, or one of the fan exhausts (not a huge issue though, most air flow is through the back).

The keyboard gets fairly hot on the right side, so I manually upped the fan speed instead of letting the predator software handle it. It wouldn’t get overly hot during gaming because the “Turbo” mode would ramp up the fan speeds, but because the fans are all towards the back it stays pretty warm (though it’s a laptop, it’s expected to be really warm)

I didn’t like it switching between intel and nvidia graphics for display output, it would resize my windows and make the text small until I moved the windows again. Nice power saving feature but more of an annoyance to me.

The main reason I returned it was due to the laptop shutting off, sometimes after 5 minutes, sometimes after several hours. I don’t believe it shut off at all while I was playing Destiny 2, though I only tried it a few short times, so I may have just been lucky. I tried rolling back drivers and entirely resetting windows, but I wasn’t willing to try anything else (like updating bios or re-seating ram) and it’s probably a hardware issue anyways, so support told me to just return it.

I’ve found its quite loud, even if I’m just watching a movie the fans spin up quite a bit. Gaming they really lay it on, kind of annoying.

However the built in monitoring software plus the killer networking system are great if you game on 4g and put your mass data on a public wifi or something. The integrated networking stuff is really nice.

Benchmarks are high but I don’t test the system, just rely on the fact that the GPU is what it is.

very compact and light as well.

This laptop has plenty of pros… Modern 12th Gen Intel CPU, NVidia 3080Ti (laptop version), plenty of RAM. They were a bit stingy on the SSD but 1TB will get you by for a while. The screen is a nice improvement over the laptop it’s replacing (close to years old). I was pleasantly surprised the only bloatware of significance was Norton, which I immediately got rid of – nobody needs that garbage.

However, it has one major drawback and one minor annoyance. The touchpad is annoying and easy to palm – could have sworn this problem was fixed 10 years ago but it’s not on this laptop (not by default at least). The bigger issue though…. the sound is awful. Not just your typical bad laptop speakers, but almost like they’re blown bad. Better get ready to use headphones or separate speakers because you’re not going to want to listen to these clearly overlooked speakers that are built in.

DTS/X… lol… whatever that means… it definitely doesn’t mean good quality built-in speakers that’s for sure.
