The charger is a USB micro which is still the “standard”; in this case it’s covered by a rubber flap which I presume is for weatherproofing. That flap makes it hard to insert the charging cable and means that it’s usually necessary to remove the light to charge it- a drag but not the worst thing.
The mounts are hard rubber “bands” which seem like they won’t last a season; I’m not sure how to mount once they break since there’s not a zip tie or alternative way of attaching.
The red light has OK brightness, I wouldn’t use it as a dedicated marker but it works as a supplementary helmet light. The white one isn’t a light per se- it’s more of a white marker so the steady on mode seems pretty useless (you couldn’t illuminate your path with the light, it’s more of a blinky to get noticed).
For the price they are great. They are light and keep going for a few hours so they are good to keep always on your bike in case you get caught out but dedicated lights are needed if you’re going to be out after dark.

Akale Rechargeable Bike Light
I have 3 pairs of these now. Most reviews on these lights are bang on. The manual specifies 4 hours runtime on brightest setting, i got 4.5 hours and then shut them down ( i only need them for a few hours at most). They are “splash proof” essentially, not “waterproof”. If you make an effort to seat the plug after charging you should not have any moisture issues. Diehard night time bikers will want something brighter/longer but these are fine for backup or emergency use. Being low profile, and able to tie/hook to any 0.5-1.5” dia tube makes them a multi-use light. I also have them on a custom tire inflator handle providing a work light and flashing red safety indicator. Since i have a handlebar bag i created a custom bar for the front bike light.

I bought one of these and after it arrived, I liked it so much, I bought 4 more. The big problem I’ve had with other bike lights is getting them to fit on a handlebar (or any other part of the frame). These come with very heavy duty rubber straps – they’re the perfect material – they stretch but hold the light tight so it doesn’t wander and I’m not worried about breaking them either. You can fit these to literally any bar or strut on your bike’s frame – on the fender struts, handle bars – anywhere. You just pull the rubber tighter – there are multiple cross hatches that you let you tighten it to almost any diameter. The lights themselves are super bright, but like all LEDs, these are fantastic for you “to be seen” but not “for you to see”. That is, the headlight doesn’t project far but is very bright for cars to see you. They charge quickly with USB and they come with cables for each light. Not sure how long they hold the charge, but it seems to be hours from my preliminary use. The lights are economical too. And no batteries to buy.

I am leaving a second review for this product as I am uncertain if my first review got through. This is a pair of lights that arrived quickly and already charged. I needed a back up pair of front and rear lights for my cycling Camino Via de La Plata this coming spring. I needed simply to be seen and not necessarily to see as I won’t be traveling at night. I do believe they are more than bright enough and they have a reported long enough charge. For the money, these are very worth the purchase. Very good and fast service as well. Thank you.

I *really* like these lights. There were easy to mount on the front and back of my bike. Best features:
* Very bright and noticeable
* Rechargeable, so I don’t have to invest in the battery store every month or two
* Easy to mount, easy to remove
So what’s the catch? IMO there is no reasonable way to mount these on your helmet.
I originally bought these with the specific idea that they could mount on my helmet (as advertised), but gave up after trying a bunch of different configurations.
It’s too bad, I think they could make it work if they included a couple of additional pieces of strapping/clipping.
I’m happy enough with these guys to still give them five stars, but to be honest, if I had purchased them with the idea that they *had* to go on my helmet, I would have returned them for a refund.

The clip is strong, tight fitting, and secure. I use these as auxillary lights when riding i.e. I clip to clothing or on my bike bags. When I’m walking it clips nicely to belt or clothing. I’ve had these for over 6 months. The light last long on a single charge. The four modes suit my needs well: 1) Solid Bright, 2) Solid low intensity. 3) Bright Flashing on-off-on 4)Bright Flashing Pattern
