Okay, so in today’s world, micro-USB cables seem to proliferate like rabbits around the house. Just about everything electronic seems to use them, and seems to come with one in its original packaging or box.

And yet you’re always short a cable. Many that come with devices wear out quickly—developing intermittent connections or being thin and brittle enough to develop shorts at either end. And many that are sold at stores for exorbitant amounts ($10-$12 for one three-foot cable?!) don’t fare any better over the long term.

And a good number of the cables out there are hobbled somehow. I don’t know everything about the micro USB spec, but it’s clear that some cables are data-only, some cables are charging-only, and some cables don’t provide one or more connections necessary to charge all devices.

    In short, it’s a mess.

I’ve now bought three batches of these cables because:

    – They are thick and well-built
    – They last and last and last (connectors and wire portion)
    – They do data successfully with every data device I have
    – They successfully charge every device I have

In short, after I bought my first batch of these, I realized that whenever there was a hiccup doing data transfer or charging something, if I tracked down one of *these* cables, it would work no matter what. Soon I just didn’t want to deal with all of the other cables, and now all of the cables that actually *came* with my devices are left filed away somewhere and unused. Like I said, I’ve bought three batches of these, which is enough for every device in the house to be either connected or charging all simultaneously without running out of cables, and it’s bliss—no cable juggling, all identical, all the same length, all working great, and not a single one has failed so far.

I used to think that the micro-USB spec was just terrible, but now I think that too many companies just cut corners or make crap cables. Anker doesn’t, and their cables are very economical compared to most retail prices for micro-USB cables, too. If you’re trapped in cable hell, I heartily recommend these as a cost-effective, no-fuss solution.

Great cable shame the world has shifted to USB C though I can tell already the C platform is much more durable/rugged that mini and micro usb. Anker Powerline is a solid product !!

I recently purchased a 3 pack set of Anker 3 foot long PowerLine series micro USB charging cables and I have to be honest right up front that with as much marketing propaganda as you see with most online retailers advertising ’fast charge capabilities’ I pretty much was expecting these cables to be pretty ’gimmicky’ thinking that they wouldn’t really do much if anything above what any generic standard USB charging cable could do. Boy was I wrong.

After receiving them I decided to put there supposed fast charge claims to the test by draining a 3500 mAh tablet battery of mine to 0%. So dead that the device wouldn’t even turn on. I then took the factory wall charger that came with the tablet along with the factor cord and hooked both up to a USB voltage and amperage reader before beginning the process of charging the batter. I did this to be able to track voltage and amperage going into the battery to see what the factory included equipment could do to then use that as a baseline control to compare future tests against.

Using the factory equipment I was getting 5.15 volts and 1.03 amps but only briefly. The amperage would almost immediately begin to drop below one amp and would predictably continue to drop down as the battery charged more and more which is what it should be doing. I should point out that the battery itself is rated to be able to charge at up to 2 amps though as often as not often times they won’t actually charge at such a high amperage for one reason or another. Nonetheless after acquiring my control test information I then drained the battery to 0% once again and I repeated the same test with the same factory wall charger but swapped out the factory USB cable for one of the 3 Anker 3 foot long PowerLine series USB charging cables.

To say I was surprised at what happened next is an understatement as almost immediately I noticed the voltage remain the same which I wasn’t all that surprised about. However what definitely surprised me was how the amperage at first seemed to read actually a bit less then what the factory USB cable was able to supply only to then meet the same amperage as the factory cable and the amperage just kept rising and rising.

By the time the amperage had stopped climbing it was at 1.61 amps. Mind you the stock USB charging cable that came with the tablet was only able to handle a MAX of 1.03. The Anker cable was providing well over 50% MORE amperage into the battery.

At first I was so surprised that I suspected something was a bit off. So I unplugged everything and then plugged everything back in once again. Yet once again just as before the amperage did the exact same thing climbing up to the same stated amperage as before proving to me that nothing was wrong. The Anker PowerLine cable really was honestly supplying significantly more power then the stock included USB cable the tablet came with.

No shocker with the tablet battery receiving literally over 50% more amperage then the stock cable that came with the tablet I noticed the recharge time from 0 to 100% was less then three and a half hours whereas before it would be four hours at minimum depending on how low the battery was drained when you plugged it into charge. So right off the bat not only is the Anker cable supplying more power, significantly more I should say, but it’s also cutting down the recharge time which is a big plus as well.

On top of that something that I noticed right away after completing the charge was that the tablet battery seemed to almost have a ‘fuller’ charge to it. What I mean by that is that it seemed to take longer then normal to drain down which I would affiliate that with the Anker cable supplying the battery with a more powerful charge and subsequently giving it a stronger fuller charge as well. Now of course this will only work to a limit sense you can’t just magically extend the life of a battery by charging it with more power at least significantly but I definitely could tell that it was increasing the longevity of the battery to a noticeable degree.

If I had to say anything bad about the cables it would simply be there stiffness. But in all honesty that stiffness to me promotes strength and durability. A lot of the cheaper included USB cables you get in one device or another really are about as cheap of USB cables as you could get. You can tell just by flexing them that with any abuse whatsoever they will start to come apart or just flat out fail.

Naturally with the Anker cables they feel like they are built like tanks and really that’s a good thing in the long run because sure it makes them stiff which does take a bit of getting used to but I would rather take a stiffer cable that I know can not only handle abuse and a long road of regular use ahead of it but also supply a more thorough charge in the process then deal with some cheap bottom of the barrel flimsy no-name brand USB cable. So really the stiffness is in a lot of ways more of a good thing then a complaint.

Complaints wise it’s hard for me to find any noteworthy fault with these cables which granted they are simply USB cables so they are either going to work or not, I mean it’s pretty black and white with these things. But nonetheless they are a pretty solid performer which is a hard thing to find these days and as with anyone whose ever came across any of my reviews in the past will tell you if something is good I will say it’s good. But if it’s a piece of garbage I will take no prisoners in absolutely ripping it apart in my reviews but with these cables I can honestly say they deserve little if any criticism at least in my testing so far.

All in all I can say that honestly the way they market these cables at least in my testing thus far is spot on and is credibility to Anker all in itself that at least with these cables that I’ve worked with they value honesty and aren’t trying to oversell there products. They can ACTUALLY do what they are marketed to do which is a rare thing to find these days and it’s a very welcome reprieve that honesty really does still exist with some manufactures out there. The cables are built like tanks but you can rest assure they won’t fail on you and at least in my tests they really do provide a faster more thorough fuller charge then stock equipment that most devices come with. So Anker most definitely deserves the five star review I’m giving them for these 3 foot long Anker PowerLine series USB charging cables and I very much would recommend them to anyone considering buying them. Yes this review was written by a real person.

I own several Anker products (especially cables) – they are always so long lasting. These cables in particular are strong and charge a phone really quickly. Would recommend to all that if you aren’t going with the brand of your device yourself then use Anker

I recently purchased the Anker Powerline Micro USB Cable 3-Pack, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with my purchase. The durability of these cables is truly unmatched. The reinforced construction with bulletproof aramid fiber sets them apart from ordinary cables. I’ve gone through my fair share of cables that wear out quickly, but the PowerLine cables show no signs of wear and tear even after weeks of daily use.

One of the standout features is the impressive 10,000+ bend lifespan, making these cables ten times more durable than others on the market. I no longer worry about frayed cables or weakened connections. The fast charging capability is another game-changer. The thick gauge wiring and reduced cable resistance ensure a speedy charge every time, and I’ve noticed a significant improvement in charging times compared to my previous cables.

With the Anker Advantage backing these cables, I’m confident in their reliability. The 3-pack ensures I have spares for various devices, and the 3-foot length is perfect for both home and on-the-go use. Anker’s commitment to quality is evident, and with the worry-free 18-month warranty, these cables are a fantastic investment. If you want durability, speed, and peace of mind, the Anker PowerLine Micro USB Cable is the way to go!
