The strings arrived early, well packaged. I am looking forward to stringing my tenor guitar with a set once my Augustine strings (my last spares from 6 string sets) have had their day.

I found these strings to have a beautiful mellow sound, unlike most other strings! On a negative, I have experienced more frequent string breakage than with other strings. On one occasion, I took a break, only to return and find one string had snapped while sitting in the guitar stand. I would recommend keeping more string on your tuner/machine heads,so you can make a quick repair. My G (3rd) string was most prone to breakage. 5+ stars for tone, 2-3 stars for string longevity.

I have never been a fan of the Aquila strings, they have a strange sound, and are hard to the touch …
One day I decided to try the Rubino in my Martin 00-28C. When I opened them a bright red glow burst into the room .. The basses were a crimson red like no one had seen before. The trebbles were of a color that emulated the cat guts used by the jugglers during the middle ages. And then I try them. When I played them for the first time, a voice emerged…a sound as clear and sweet as the lyre of the same Orpheus, many said that the resonance can be heard and felt in the room until this day.
Ok maybe I am over reacting, but really they are soft strings with a clear and unique sweet sound.
Just one more thing, first set I received come with red basses, second one with white basses.. not sure why is that.

These carbon core strings are overthought. They make a decent classical sound like a cheap steel string. I tried them, and am going back to nylon string fishing line,
which is all they are anyhow.

These strings are awesome! I got them to replace the cheap breaking strings that came with my guitalele when I bought it. They sound so nice and don’t sound muddled and “tingy” when I strum them. I love them

I have been playing guitars for over 50 years, and my eyesight is deteriorating (a fact), so I need a micrometer to measure the string sizes, as these come unidentified as to gauge. I purchased the Classical Aquila Rubino – regular gauge – for a Takamine classical guitar. I hope that I was able to install them correctly, as there is not much difference that I am able to discern in the thickness. Three bass, three treble. How easy should this be? They play and sound well so far.
UPDATE: I am seeing the red coating wear off at the second and third frets on the A and D strings (see photo). It is a Takamine classical guitar. The strings now have less diameter due to the wearing of the outer coating, and the wear is visible easily felt with my fingernail. The playability and sound do not seem to be adversely affected, but the strings have only been lightly used for a couple of weeks. I expect more durability from strings in this price range.

Made in Italy with good quality. I have to pay attention of NOT buying Made in China with bad bad quality and let them use the profit from us USA to control the world.

This set of strings only take about 24 hours to be stabilized and sounds much better than the white one.

I’m not much of a classical guitarist so I can’t compare them to other high end strings. That being said these sound beautiful, very clear and bright. they’re also very unique visually and look beautiful on a guitar. all in all I think these will be my go to classical strings.

Low finger noise when compared to other aquilas. I swapped from the ambra 2000 on a Kremona GG. Significantly lower gauge, brighter, and they match the purpleheart fretboard perfectly 👌🏽

The basses are red-varnished copper. They are by far the most responsive and mud-free set I’ve tried. Not as grippy as silver-plated, but I play elixirs and flatwounds, so this is a plus.

The trebles are a blood-amber red, and extremely slick. You don’t get the same squeak as their other nylgut, but they aren’t as dull as flurocarbon.

Noticed the coating wearing off the strings at the frets, but this hasn’t affected my frets so far. You’ll have to be a little more delicate when installing, which just means pre-stretching as you’re tuning, and there’s video that demonstrates this.

Overall, I haven’t played a clearer, more responsive set.
