My wife found these birdfeeder “globes” as a squirrel proof feeder. We really like the look! Easy to use and very pretty.
We like these feeders so much we ordered a set for a family member. Unfortunately, a wire clip was missing from one of three globes. I contacted customer at Backyard Expressions (supplier) and in no time they have sent a replacement!
In looking at the Backyard Expressions page on Amazon, I find other items we’ve bought from them in the past. I’ll be looking at what else I might buy from them.

This is my second set, the first having lasted 5 years in the punishing central Texas climate. And they were still in usable condition – the paint had rubbed off but no rust. No they are not squirrel proof. Not even with a squirrel baffle. But they don’t make it easy and it’s pretty entertaining watching the squirrels hanging upside down.
Definitely recommend.

Really like the way they look and hang…. Only one complaint… the so free e-book is not a book… I scanned three times , kept sending me to Facebook messenger…. NO E BOOK!,

I’m big into bird feeding/watching and have gotten my mother into the hobby as well. We have spent a small fortune on feeders, houses, poles, food, baffles to battle the squirrels, etc. There is so much to figure out and we have both learned a lot by trial and error. I wish I hadn’t bought each of us a set of these colored balls. The picture looked great and the idea is cute, but they simply don’t work well. I see a picture a reviewer left of sunflower seeds falling out making it appear the seed can easily be accessed by the birds, but this simply isn’t true. The “holes” in the wire are not big enough and the birds will opt to dine at a different feeder (one that is easier to use). If you are not going to have other feeders in your yard and are not giving the birds a choice, they will probably use these out of despiration. I wouldn’t feel right about making them work so hard to eat. I have tried sunflower seeds in the shell (maybe I can find smaller ones like in the photo). I have tried saflower seed but it went bad before the birds ate it. Shelled sunflower seeds do work. I have one of the balls filled with shelled sunflower pieces hanging above a platform feeder so any pieces that fall won’t be wasted; the birds like it. The first time I tried this (before the birds became used to it) we had a heavy rain and the seed had to be dumped into the platform feeder before it ruined. Now the birds eat it quick enough that the seed does not get moldy.
I believe these could be used as tealight candle holders as another reviewer stated and it is correct that you don’t get a green ball as shown in the photo. I received a bright yellow one instead. If you want a ball that holds sunflowers in the shell, try the “NO NO seed ball” which can be purchased on Amazon. You get one for a little less than the 3 of these colored balls cost, but it is very well made and works. I have two of them and my mother has one… good luck feeding our feathered friends. 🙂

I am not happy with this product at all. The mesh it is made of is too small for the birds to get food out of. If I buy smaller bird food, it would just fall out of the balls. The look ok as yard ornaments, maybe I can put some light in them.

I’ve waited to write a review to see how these hold up to our many conniving suet thieves. I’ve had them up for months now and try as the little monsters might they haven’t been able to get to the suet inside. One got the whole feeder off when I hung it on a branch but I found it on the ground still intact! They do dent so when they arrived one was a little misshapen and the one that the little furry bandit got off the branch is no longer a round ball, but the birds love that their suet actually lasts for more than a day without being stolen by all the greedy rodents. I can’t speak for using seed in them but cutting the suet cakes up and putting them in these feeders has saved us money, brought new birds to our feeders, and I like the bright colors. I’m very happy with my purchase and if one does eventually break I wouldn’t hesitate to buy them again.
