Do you want to stop delivering pizzas and become a “real” bass trombonist? Well if so, get off Amazon, find a private teacher, and start practicing 40 hours a day! Oh, and buy this book. Maybe. Or not. I don’t care; it’s not my book.
The kind of nonsense in the first part of this review is on par with the gibberish this author “published” in this bound stack of paper. This “book” is not intended to be the definitive manual on how to become the next Doug Yeo or Ed Kleinhammer, but it is freakin’ hysterical and has some invaluable knowledge on how to improve your bass trombone chops.
Along with being an accomplished visual artist and amateur comedian, Alex has “the” definitive bass trombone sound; desired by all, attempted by many, and achieved by few. His method will get you back into that practice room and playing Tommy Pederson duets on a level unheard by any living soul, and guide you from sounding like a dying cow with a dependent valve, all the way to dropping earth-shattering pedal Fs that sound like a Hippo in the Cabbagepatch!
So when you’re ready to take your bass trombone game to the next level, first buy this book! Then, put on your sock puppet and prepare to play some orchestral excerpts. Your Lizard Lips will thank you!

i got this book, read through it and immediately threw it away. huge waste of money. its mostly a short story about a whiny boys opinion on how life sucks as a bass trombonist and has very minimal practical information.

The author has some very good practical tips for bass trombonists (advanced, intermediate, and beginner), and you get a multi movement unaccompanied solo in the back of the book. Even if you’re not a bass trombonist, any musician or non-musician could benefit from the knowledge and humor in The Bass Trombone Book. And it’s only $7.76! This is the best value bass trombone method book for your money. I’ve bought many trombone method books over the past 25 years, but this one is not only the most entertaining, it might have some of the best advice on practically every page. For $7.76, just take a chance!
