This product is a paper shredder! It is quieter that our previous shredder and the chip bin is 9.5 gallons vs 1.5 gallon chip bin on our previous machine. All in all, it’s like night and day.

Keep in mind this is day one of having the product, I bought two of these and tested both. (One was a gift) I can attest both arrived in 1 piece, nothing chipped off, everything was in place as it was supposed to be. Admittedly the boxes were a bit dinged up but the products inside was unharmed. I shredded thick packs of paper with staples attached with no problems whatsoever. I find both of them to be quieter than previous shredders. I’ll update my review if my opinion changes but right now I am very happy with my purchases. Both machines run perfectly to my standards and do exactly what I bought them to do.

PROS of the 24-sheet model (S3105): – several pages can be shredded without any strain or overheating – the motor is air-cooled with intake and exhaust ports in the back for longer running time – it is pretty quiet and the noise is not annoying – the basket is larger than in most low-cost shredders, but cross-cut paper takes more space in the basket than micro-cut paper – it looks better than many other shredders.
CONS of the 24-sheet model (S3105): – it looks larger “in person” than in a photo; it will look too large in small spaces – it is very heavy; it is not something that you would want to move often – the motor is heavy (good), but this makes the shredder very top heavy; it could do quite a damage if it fell on a living thing or something of value – the feed rate is not high, but this can be compensated by stacking more pages of paper – there is no mechanism to adapt to various thickness of the stacked paper; for thinner stacks, there is a lot of movement of the paper being fed, because it has no support (this also contributes to the noise) – the cross-cut strips a are quite large; this means that the paper must be oriented in a specific way when feeding, so the characters in the text are separated during shredding – cross-cut paper strips take up more space in the basket vs. micro-cut strips.

Quiet, multi page shredder, simple operation / controls. Heavy and rolls easily on its wheels. It is “garaged” under my desk, easy to roll out to use. As a side issue, the instructions suggest oiling the chopper monthly, and although the instructions did not explain, we purchased oiling sheets for this purpose from Amazon. They are easy to run through the shredder like a regular heavy paper, and appears to do the job.

I’ve had this for nearly a month now, during which time I’ve disposed of a big backlog of old documents. It is on a completely different level than a waste paper basket sized shredder. it’s quiet, never jams and has a big bin that is easy to empty. Well worth the price since this one actually does what I need a shredder to do. Being in an apartment, the fact that it’s about as noisy as a running microwave oven is great, since I can use it at any time without bothering anyone around me.

Well made sturdy build. I had no problem shredding old tax returns, although unit is rated at 24 max sheets I have only tested at 18 sheets and it worked well. Shredder is fairly quiet and easy to operate with only two control buttons forward and reverse.
