I was hesitant to buy this cymbal based on the other reviews, but I did, and I couldn’t be happier. I got a beautiful cymbal that sounds awesome. I will say that it favors more of a delicate touch. I think it’s perfect for lower volume scenarios. This probably isn’t a cymbal that you need to cut through djents and cookie monster. It’s a great jazz ride. It is a dry ping with a lot of overtones, and a beautiful wash when crashed. I know the weights vary, but mine in particular weighs 1660 grams, which is very light for a ride. Don’t believe the hype, this cymbal is fantastic. Hope this helps potential buyers in the future who were skeptical like myself.

M20R is the product code for a medium weight 20 inch Master series ride cymbal. What I actually received was a M20CP, a 20 inch Master series paper thin crash cymbal. It cannot be used a ride cymbal at all; it roars like a cymbal roll with mallets by the 4th or 5th strike. Like trying to ride a crash cymbal. Its not even in the crash/ride grey area. 100% crash. That being said its an interesting crash. Very dark, shimmery, huge wash, and long sustain. Unfortunately if you are looking for a 20 inch crash like this you probably arent reading this review as the item is listed as a ride.

I’m using this 20” Master Series ride as a left-side ride with a 22” Sabian XSR Monarch as my main ride in a jazzy setup, and it sounds absolutely beautiful. Where the Monarch is dry and never loses stick definition, this one readily opens up into a crash that’s the perfect balance of smoky darkness and buttery shimmer. Mine weighs 1616 grams, which is very light for a 20” ride. More of a crash-ride. Super washy and wobbly. It won’t cut through the mix in a loud rock band, but it could work nicely as a crash in a non-jazz setting of reasonable volume.
Bosphorus cymbals seem to have fallen out of fashion in recent years which might explain their falling prices, but I’m not sure why that is. This is a world-class instrument at an amazing price.
