I have bought this radio-cd combo to replace my old radio-cd in a ’99 Ford Explorer. I will not make comparisons to other sounds system that cost hundreds of dollars and are certainly superior in certain respects. This was not the point here. I just wanted a good system to outfit a vintage 4×4 car (originally equipped, though, with the Ford Premium sound system). With everything, including extracting tools for the old radio and a premium wire harness, the whole operation cost me just over $100 (I installed the radio myself, I had never done this before and it was pretty straightforward once I had understood the basics). For the quality I got, the price of the unit is unbeatable. The radio picks on many stations, the CD player operates smoothly, the unit has all the sound adjustments features needed and a few additional bells and whistles, and the sound is very good.

It took me a while to get this installed but that was due to procrastination. Easy to set up if you have any wiring experience. The sound quality is better than my stock stereo but not as good as a more expensive unit. Worth the money though

This is a good little stereo for my jeep. I wanted an upgrade because my stock stereo kept eating CDs and it’s aux port was a disaster. Frankly, I’m just done with CDs & having bluetooth was a big selling point for me. The price is also low enough that if it didn’t work out, I was okay with loosing out on that money.
The install…
Firstly… A lot of the problems I experienced along the way we’re jeep problems. There were many. The first problem I encountered forced me to reshape the inner bracket that helps hold the radio in place.
Jeep also has wiring/canbus issues that are meant to throw up a road blocks to keep people from doing these installs themselves and forcing you to either buy a oem unit that a dealer must install or dig around the net to find a “compatible” radio.
Because of this any radio that doesn’t talk to the computer through the canbus wires, does not receive any current through the radio’s ignition wire. No signal to turn on the radio once the key was in. Additionally, finding a good, understandable wiring guide for my jeep was frustrating. The radio’s guide also left me a bit unclear on which wire was to the battery & which for the ignition.
I thought the unit was DOA or damaged by my messing around, trying to figure things out. Thankfully, this is a tough little unit that handled all the bumps and bends and improper wiring attempts.
The other problem was the radio was not a perfect fit for the outer frame. It’s height was fine, but I ended up purchasing a separate install kit. If I’d know about it from the get go, it would have saved me so many headache.
Thankfully this kit has everything you need to install this radio into a Jeep Patriot, including a long fused wire to bypass the non functioning ignition wire.
Despite all the hurdles I had to overcome I have a very nice bluetooth radio that looks professionally installed and sounds great! I also love how when connected to my phone in bluetooth mode. I can shut my jeep off and it pauses the music on my phone. When I turn my jeep back on, it automatically resumes playing right where it left off. It’s great!!!

I bought this radio to upgrade the sons stereo in his Ford ranger. It’s a pretty straightforward install and sounds really good. It connects to Bluetooth well and gets good radio reception. I wasn’t a fan of the mounting hardware, I’m used to getting a steel sleeve to secure with bendable tabs. This was a less secure setup but it isn’t rattling around either.

I really like that.It’s very simple to use and you have a choice between 8 colors. So there is not really much to complain about other than the cheap Mic for hands free calling. Even has a remote that has more buttons than I could ever use.. It has been a very good radio for the quality. The only thing that I’ve very dislike is that when you have a phone call? The MIC on the Boss system Never picks my voice up but can hear them Fine!

Compré un coche que traía instalado un estéreo chafísima de pantalla y lo odiaba con todo mi ser. En cuanto pude le instalé este estéreo “sencillo” y la verdad superó mis expectativas. Obvio no es un Pioneer o un Sony, pero en mi opinión se escucha increíble, el bluetooth se conecta en cuanto prendes el auto, tiene un buen diseño y es fácil de usar. Lo único que no me gusta es que no se puede ajustar el display, me gustaría que sólo se quedara fijo el reloj pero al parecer no hay forma de quitar el desfile de información del track en curso. Pero no importa, la verdad estoy encantado con todo lo demás, no podría pedir más.

I gave a fairly positive review initially, but since then, it has gotten worse and worse. I installed the stereo following all of the manufacturer instructions and it worked very well initially. My only complaint was lighting control was hard to access and there was no brightness control.
After about a week I noticed it would sometimes pause itself, like every 5-15 minutes. Then the next/last track buttons stopped working; these also control radio station navigation, so I was stuck on a station I didn’t like if I ever switched to radio. The next day, the play/pause button stopped working for bluetooth, but it still works for CDs? While trying to figure out some of these issues, I tried using the included remote for the fist time and discovered that it doesn’t seem to do anything, no idea if that’s a problem with the remote or the stereo.
Most recently, the part that has made it completely unusable, it mutes itself every few seconds. It isn’t permanently muted, but I’ll get about 2-5 seconds of music in between 15-20 seconds of silence. My pressing the mute button will occasionally unmute it, but then it just mutes itself again a few seconds later.
I don’t understand what is going on with this thing, but after the 4 hours it took me to install it, to get only 1 week of full functionality and then another of partial functionality before it completely failed is really frustrating!

I bought the stereo just over a year ago but it died recently but I don’t think the Bluetooth call talking ever really worked properly since I bought it for my mom. The sound quality was decent though
