This is a great budget option to add Android Auto or Car Play to an older car. The unit itself is clean and doesn’t look out of place even in an older car.
The sound quality is great for the price. My GMT800 has a small factory amp and Bose speakers, and this unit really brought them to life. It also has a full equalizer and decent presets. The touch screen is responsive and the UI layout is easy to navigate.
Android Auto function has been flawless except that you can’t manipulate Maps on your phone after it’s connected, you are forced to use the unit’s touch screen. Not a big deal, but using Maps is much faster and easier on the phone. The workaround is simply to set up your Maps before plugging in.
Backup camera integration was very easy. The camera that came with this is mediocre. The camera quality is very low resolution. It’s better than nothing but I will be upgrading to a better camera in the near future.
The only downside is that neither of the USB connections, either AA or normal USB charge, are capable of fast charging. I’ve found that when using AA, the charging can’t even keep up with the phone use and you’ll slowly lose charge.

The volume continues to go up and down on its own. The led lights on the side buttons work only sometimes. Toggling back and forth from Cap Play to tuner is not very convenient. Waze always thinks Im in Mexico unless I set my course from my phone. Of course all of this is happening 5 weeks after purchase and I cant return the head unit. What a waste of money.

Works good with the stock BOSS system.

Has quite a responsive display, comes with a wired microphone, carplay works as it should, and camera quality is not the best but does the job. Easy installation for my 2005 Civic. I’m glad they provide long USB cables for carplay and charging. However, the camera cable was disappointingly short, which created a whole agenda of issues, including power problems. I’ve tried changing the RCA cables twice and even tried a wireless device, one of which worked. I ended up contacting the manufacturer directly to at least get a replacement for the camera, which they promptly shipped. Now the cable just goes through the car’s interior. Tip to manufacturer: include a longer RCA. Overall, great car stereo.

got this for my son to upgrade in his honda accord. got an open box that appears to have been never used. works as i hoped . seems high quality . the included camera on the other hand?? MEH. it’s low res. nothing special but it’s part of the package. sound is quite good , touch screen is responsive and bright. it felt super light so i was concerned it would be crappy sounding but not so. well well worth the little it costs.

Very responsive and sounds great, great features and videos look great and sound awesome. I don’t have the rear view camera hooked up but I may purchase a camera down the road. The only con for me is talking while in Apple play. I hear the same from everyone about this and it is that you won’t have a problem but the caller will hear there echo which will be annoying for them but if you call or get a call make sure you do it in Bluetooth without being hooked in to Apple play and they will not have an echo. I don’t understand and I wish there was settings so you could fix this because sometimes you may want to talk to someone while you are using the gps in Apple play but I couldn’t find that setting to fix it so I will live with it. More expensive head units have settings for the mic but this one does not and I heard it could be fixed if you could update the Apple play but you can’t so before you purchase you may want to think about if this is important to you but besides that this is a very nice budget car stereo and it is still worth the money

Bought this on March 4th 2022 since it seemed to pack a good deal of features and wattage for my speakers and sub.
I replaced my factory JBL head unit that came with my 2006 Corolla commuter car. It was a nice upgraded factory system but it was outdated and I needed hands free, maps, and features you get in new head units.
Was happy with it at 1st but then it had a problem with the Apple CarPlay USB connection. Wasted a bunch of time troubleshooting with BOSS to tell me my head unit was defective which I clearly knew.
Luckily it was in warranty. I opted for the advanced replacement so I could get my problem fixed asap. Got the replacement unit, installed it and tested. Everything worked well until last month.
Constant CarPlay disconnects. Tried different USB A to USB C cables and still same result. I know it’s not my phone (iPhone 15 Pro Max w/iOS 18.x) because I have a Kenwood head unit in my 2007 Z51 Corvette and it works flawlessly with the same cable and phone. It’s going on 6 years old now BTW.
Now my BOSS is out of warranty and I have a head unit that doesn’t work for the reason I bought it for. I should have just bought another Kenwood since now I’m out more money for trying to cheap out for my commuter car.
I haven’t had other issues with volume and screen related stuff others have described but I can attest to the Mic echo when connected via CarPlay. Many people complained about the echo when having conversations.
Do yourself a favor…Pay more and cry once.
I won’t be purchasing BOSS products ever again.

I decided to upgrade from the old stock radio and this one does fulfill the hands free phone requirement I was after however the Android Auto messaging system doesn’t seem to work at all, even though I have version 14 and uninstalled/reinstalled the app. Unfortunately, it’s not coming back out.

It works great i installed it on my 2000 Lexus ls400. The screen is responsive. The frame rate does suck especially when you’re scrolling through Spotify. But I’ve never seen a radio that didn’t lag, so i won’t even blame it for that. Android auto works fantastic.
(If it’s not working for you, or it keeps saying you need to have the parking brake on, change the wire you’re using. I thought my radio was broken. But then i switched to the OEM charging wire that came with my phone instead of the aftermarket one i had, and android auto worked instantly. Do not use cheap wires with android auto. I have a oneplus 9)
So yeah pretty great, the screen is very bright. The sound equalizing does the job. And the resolution of the screen does suck, but against it’s $300, so i don’t expect it to be phenomenal. Overall i got exactly what I paid for and i love it. And the connections is flawless, their is almost no delay at all when i skip a track or pause, which shocked me.
