The quality and size of this unit was perfect for the money spentâI was looking for a small, light, portable metronome with a (faux) wood finish. Easy to useâjust slip the pendulum rod out of its âparkingâ slot, set the speed and let it go. Easy to adjust the speed although like others I was afraid I would break or bend the rod while adjusting speeds.
Unfortunately, I received a defective unit because there was a manufacturing flaw in the faux-wood pattern (not a huge deal), and the mechanism was not properly balanced. This meant the clicks werenât evenly spaced out, like it had a hitch (two clicks closer together with a slightly longer period until the subsequent 2 clicks). So it fails in terms of accuracy, especially at slower speeds. Less of an issue if you keep it mid-way or faster (about 120bpm or higherâĻ?).
I ordered a replacement but the 2nd metronome had worse flaws in the finish and arrived damaged; these are mailed in a thin, tight cardboard box with very very little padding, within a plastic padded mailerâmeaning itâs not sufficiently protected, as other reviews bear out. Unfortunately, I forgot to try this unit before returning it, to see if it had the same balance issue as the other.
Sound wise, I agree with other reviewers that the tone of the clicks are pleasant and not too loud or âsharpâ (annoying) like some electronic metronomes can be, like a Sondery digital tuner/metronome. Itâs a pleasant light knock/click if that makes senseâthe plastic enclosure resonates with each click, through the holes in the face, enriching the sound.
Sadly, I returned this and will keep looking for something that works for me.

A screw immediately came out and the thing fell apart before I even used it.

Cute metronome. But at slow speeds it sounds like it has a limp; a shorter click alternating with a slightly faster click. I made sure the table was level. Still that problem.

Love this little thing! I wanted a small portable one and not a digital one with annoying beeping. This is really perfect. Its nice looking, sounds great and great price compared to other small ones. This also seems to be the smallest mechanical one I can find. If you’re looking for small, portable and not digital this is the one.

It’s quite small and fits in one hand, and comes with a front cover for protecting the pendulum mechanism. Since the whole thing is working like its own carrying case, it’s excellently portable especially given its compact size. Operation is simple and intuitiveâturn the wind-up handle, set the tempo, and start swinging. The sound isn’t too annoying or loud, and I like how easily it fits on any horizontal surfaceâover my digital piano, sheet music stands, or any small shelf space. it looks cute with the wooden color and texture as well
But, the movement only lasts for several minutes, and requires repeat winding. It works OK for short practices, but can be annoying to have to keep setting up every few minutes. It feels lightweight and has plastic parts, and I would definitely try to avoid any physical impact or dropping it.
For the price it’s decent, but the next time I might look an alternative.
Rie71NL –
Fabulous little, portable, take anywhere or use at home metronome. Loud enough that I can hear it over my African drums.

I bought this two months ago. It works well still. If it seems to get stuck, give it a little tap or wind it again a bit. I play acoustic guitar so it’s just right for that.

It’s perfect for what it does. If your practice sessions run a little long you will be winding this thing up more than you think you should, but, that pause is a good break in the exercising. It’s loud enough to be heard, but not obnoxious. I would recommend.
