I love this printer. The photo quality is amazing. I’ve used a zink printer before and it prints dark and with a blue overlay sometimes. The colors are all off with a zink printer. This one? It’s perfect. I shared a photo of a printed photo from the printer as well as the original from my phone for comparison.

One thing to note because I was confused. The ink comes with the paper. There isn’t a way to buy separate ink or paper. But the ink lasts for 20 photos which is what comes with the paper. So keep that in mind because I was worried that I couldn’t find the ink to buy. Haha.

I love this printer. Totally worth it especially since I got into scrapbooking. Love the sticker paper!!!

I’m hoping mine is a dud but mine doesn’t print the right edges of my photos. It comes out faded and incomplete as if it ran out of ink, but just on the right side. New ink cartridge did not fix this.
The rest of the print quality is ok. Not fantastic, but acceptable for the fun and ease of it. I give it a solid 3/5. It’s a cute pink.

I really like this printer a lot! It’s so much fun to be able to give people little cute pictures to remember a moment. The quality is great for a little portable printer. Could the image be better, yes but if I wanted a professional printed product I would not use this product for that. The quality of the print is great for it being portable and the paper being affordable. Love this concept!!! You do need Wi-Fi to print the pictures but I don’t really have an issue with that.

I have owned a Canon Selphy cp1200 for a few years and it finally got some kind of fatal error and after looking around at the very limited dye sub options, I ended up getting this and I’ve used it for a few weeks now

    The GOOD:

    1. Print quality. I have had a zink printer and could never get my pictures looking anywhere near as good as the Selphys. Dye sublimation is simply a superior print process and I wish there were more options on the market.

    2. It paired quickly and easily with my phone and the app seems stable. I have a Google Pixel 3a XL if anyone cares. I hate when devices only work with the latest and greatest phones.

    3. It’s cute. It makes me happy. The other small dye sub printer I was considering was just ugly. (What the heck Kodak?)

    4. Sticker paper. This might be the main thing that made me choose the Canon over the Kodak, but I wanted my photos to be on sticker paper.

    Aaaand the BAD:

    1. Square format. If the ugly Kodak had printed rectangle pictures, I’d have bought it instead, sticker paper or no. The next company who comes out with a handheld dye sub printer that prints rectangle pictures, I’ll buy it. We are not all Instagrammers and being limited to square pictures is just annoying.

    2. You can’t print borderless. Also annoying. (I think with the Kodak, you can.)

    2. The app is only kinda ok. You can’t move the picture in the frame on the app, so the app chooses how to crop the sides (or top and bottom) of your pictures. If you take decent pictures that frame a person (and don’t leave a bunch of space above the head) then the tops of heads are being cropped off. I’m having to use a different app to crop my pictures into a square and then use the printing app which is frustrating. You end up losing part of every picture you print. EDIT: I found out how to do this in the app. Tap on the picture and use the trim option.

    3. Availability of refills. Again, if the ugly Kodak had had refills OR if the previous versions of these printers that did print rectangle format pictures had had refills available anywhere online, I’d have bought those. I’m not sure what the problem is, but Canon isn’t the only one dealing with supply issues. But they need to figure it out. And this is not a new problem. My previous Selphy had certain refills that were very difficult to find. When I was shopping for a new printer, I was kind of hoping to get away from Canon, but ended up here anyway. Maybe next time I’m in the market for a printer. 🙂 EDIT: The availability of refills has increased in the last couple months, so that’s nice. We’ll see if it lasts.

At the end of the day, it’s printing pretty pictures for me and I like that. I can’t whole heartedly recommend it, but it’s a better option than a zink printer and similar to the Kodak one. If you like the look of the Kodak printer (this is, after all, a matter of taste), and can find the refills for sale more easily, get that one. I think some of the reviewers liked the Kodak app better so take that into consideration. Maybe one of these companies will get away from the square format and we won’t be stuck with awkwardly cropped pictures for no good reason. Or maybe the dye sub process will spread and we’ll have more options. Fingers crossed.
