Solid hex bar that keeps 45lb plates just far enough off the ground to load without issue. Allows for a good range of motion. Easy to assemble. Awesome overall value.

I have a limited space home gym in my garage with a power cage and it’s a bit of a PITA to remove the olympic barbell from within the cage to use for deadlifts, and I wasn’t sure I wanted to spend a lot for another barbell just for deadlifts so I tried out a trap bar during a Black Friday sale. This works great and is easy to load, albeit with a different range of motion needed since your hands are in different locations so you have to rely on a proper hinge technique for your lifts. Also the trap bar is lighter than a 7 foot barbell so you have to adjust your weight additions to compensate. There is limited hand space between the plates and the grips but I have medium sized hands and the include spacer works well for me. I also don’t lift crazy heavy so this trap bar should last me a lifetime and be okay for my kids too since I will never need to put 5 plates of anything on it. This is a good VALUE buy for my home gym and I’m not a pro lifter, but this does fulfill a specific strength need for me and my family and I’m glad I bought it. Well made, easy assembly, and fast delivery made this a worthwhile buy, even at regular prices. Highly recommend this!

My original Trap Bar is an old original Al Gerard Trap Bar (he’s a powerlifter from the 1980’s and the original inventor of the Trap Bar. Google “Al Gerard Trap Bar” to see a picture of it). It’s wide, clunky, and not free-standing, so I bought this Bar). I have had this hex Trap Bar for a few weeks now, and I am very pleased with it. I read that some people had problems assembling the bar. You will need to assemble the Bar loosely before tightening everything down. With items like this, always expects that not all holes will line up exactly perfect. I installed all of the bolts, washers, and nuts, and then tightened everything down. It’s solid as a rock. The bar comes with two, thick rubber spacers (one on each side) to space the weight plate away from the handle. The spacers are about the same size and thickness as a typical chrome-plated lock collar. This still doesn’t allow for enough space to easily wrap lifting straps around the handles, so I added two old lock collars I had lying around. They work perfect. I recommend this bar.

This is the exact same model I use at Physical Therapy, which is why I chose it. The built-in stand means it is easy to load plates. They never touch the floor.
I included the photo so you can see how big it is. I am 6′ 1″ with long legs and have no issues using this.
Please note this ONLY accepts Olympic Plates, the ones with a 2″ diameter hole, so you can’t use your 1″ plates and clips.
The build quality is superb, and with a good wrench and socket it assembled in a few minutes. This is an essential tool for leg muscle building and squats.
Be sure to use good form – butt out, back straight and head up – and this Hex Bar (or Trap Bar) will get the job done.

The CAP Olympic Trap Bar is an absolute game-changer for anyone serious about their strength training regimen.
The build quality of this trap bar is great. One of the standout features of an olympic trap bar is its versatility. Unlike traditional barbells, which primarily target the upper body, this trap bar allows for a more balanced distribution of weight, engaging not only the arms and shoulders but also the legs and back. Whether I’m performing deadlifts, shrugs, or farmer’s walks, I can feel my entire body working together to lift the weight, resulting in a more comprehensive and effective workout.
Another aspect that sets this trap bar apart is its ergonomic design. The raised handles and hexagonal shape make it easier to get into position and maintain proper alignment throughout each movement. This not only reduces the risk of injury but also allows for a greater range of motion, enabling me to fully engage the targeted muscle groups and maximize my gains.
In terms of value for money, the CAP trap bar is unbeatable. Compared to other trap bars on the market, it offers the same level of quality and performance at a fraction of the cost. Whether you’re a seasoned lifter or just starting out, investing in this trap bar is sure to take your strength training to the next level.
In conclusion, I can’t recommend this trap bar enough. It’s durable, versatile, and ergonomically designed to enhance your workouts and help you achieve your fitness goals.

I have had this bar for almost a year and it has performed perfectly. Keep in mind this is not the solid, one piece bars you may be used to in gyms and as such is not as heavy duty. I don’t go extremely heavy so for my use so this bar has been perfect. It comes with rubber stops on each end to prevent the weights from being too close to your hands. I have had no issues with grip space or weight hitting my hands. The handles are smooth so grip can become a problem with heavier weight. Assembly was easy and the parts to the bar are of decent quality, no rust, but do have some sloppy welds. I wouldn’t load this bar full and deadlift with uncontrolled drops but I use a barbell for that so I don’t have to worry about the welds. For my use it’s a good value.

I’ve used this plenty of times now and I am not disappointed with this purchase. Good quality and it was a good price when I purchased it.

Quick delivery, easy to put together and overall solid piece of equipment. It uses Olympic weight plates (2 inch) bargain for the price compared to some of them and well built too. Overall extremely happy and highly recommend

There’s a lot that I wanted to like about this hex trap bar. When I received it, it was well packaged and felt sturdy when I put it together. I really like how stable it felt while loading it up, and it made loading easy by sitting square and lifted up. But these few things led me to return it:
1. Height of the grips.
The grips themselves are higher than the center of the collar, and the collar is raised off the ground. I know that this is for easy loading but since in a shorter guy (5’6″) this makes my deadlift position about 4-5″ HIGHER than if I were to deadlift with just a bar. That’s a lot of muscle activation I’m missing. Taller people might not have such a drastic difference but this makes my lift window for DL smaller.
2. Slippery Grips
There’s no texture or anything on the grips and it is super slippery. I tried chalk but in some ways it actually made it more slippery! Ideally there would be some texture on the metal bar.
3. Short Collar
I’m not a huge guy but I’m having a hard time loading weight onto this. I have rubber bumper plates and can fit a 45, 35, 25, and 15 on there and the clamp barely closes on the edge. That’s 240+25lb bar itself… So I guess this could work fine if you had thinner traditional steel plates but…
4. Weak structure
Because the components are bolted together, it’s weaker than if it were a single piece construction. I know that would bring up the cost but with the limited weight I can put on there, the bars bend down from the middle of the frame. I made sure that everything is tightened correctly. I don’t drop the weight either, so this is concerning.
If you can get over the concerns above, this is a great value for the piece of equipment it is. But because of these things, I couldn’t keep it. Good luck, happy lifting!
