Casio Fx-260SOLARII Scientific Calculator, Black

Received this calculator today. Seems to work fine. Keys are easy to read and there are several modes of operation , which, without the manual, one would have to just memorize. I do note that the Amazon “Product Information” is either misleading or just plain NOT CORRECT. Product Info says that 2 AA batteries come with this calculator, implying, I thought, that the solar cells charge an internal battery. Not so, unfortuately. So no light, no calculations. How long would it work when the light is low? Nobody seems to state anything about this most important “spec”. Also, the Amazon Product Info says it’s made in China, but the box containing the calculator I got says its made in Thailand, with Casio being a Japanese company.. Still it’s a pretty decent calculator,especially for the price.

This calculator simply performs all functions. Mine lasted for decades until I literally drove over it. It’s the perfect size. It’s well constructed. It’s easy to use. It’s inexpensive. Unless you need technology for advanced work, such as graphing, programming or statistics, this calculator is perfection.

Just like the one I have in my high school.

This is the exact same unit as one I purchased years ago. And I like that a company is making the same product because it’s a great unit. So many companies have to change things that designed well and work great, and then when they ” improve and update ” it , it becomes a piece of junk. But not Casio, they still make it the same way, with the most minute cosmetic changes.
Though I use it for the most basic math, I like the scientific functions because they remind of being a math nerd.

EL equipo esta bien y es justamente lo que se ofrece, pero a mi me gustaria encontrar una calculadora que tuviera mas o menos las mismas caracteristicas pero que la funcion 1/X la tenga directa, que con un solo toque me devuelva la inversa, que no tenga que oprimir la tecla shift ni la tecla = para obtener el resultado ya que por mi trabajo se utiliza mucho esa funcion, hace tiempo existian esas calculadoras pero ya no las he visto en venta.

It’s tiny, it’s light, it’s solar powered, and it has about the same functionality as a TI-30. In other words, it’s a very basic scientific calculator: no complex numbers, linear algebra, calculus, solvers, or exact math (except for rudimentary fractions). Note that it has an old school interface. If you want to do the sine of 45, you don’t type “sin(45)”, you type “45 sin”. But it does use algebraic notation for basic arithmetic: “1+2*3=” will return 7. Basically, it operates like a pre-2000 scientific calculator.

How tiny is it? It’s about the size of a man’s wallet, but half as thin. It’s even thinner without the protective cover. I don’t notice it when it’s in my pocket. I wish it were all black instead of having a white shell, but at least it isn’t pink or some other painful color.

I used an old Casio fx300 from about 1993 until now when the flip cover broke. I thought this would replace it. This Casio is small and feels cheap in your hand. Not a smooth click of the buttons…more clunky. I was just about to take an exam and the screen froze on 60000 and took about 5 minutes of covering the solar cell to turn it off, clearing, and hitting every button to finally get it to clear. i lost all confidence in it. It has all the functionality needed for algebraic and geometric calcs, but I will definitely try to find one a little better.
