Taste in watches is personal so when I say “This Casio watch is my favorite,” that is much a statement on my taste in watches as it is a measure of the intrinsic value of the watch. As a card-carrying geezer, I m fond of the analog presentation for a where-are-we-in-the-day at a glance. The digital functions are many but I generally use only day and date. The intrinsic values include very high accuracy, easy switch digital standard/DST, easy and positive closure on the oder-free rugged watch band, and a non-intrusive masculine look. Setting the analog time, though infrequent apart from DST, is something of a nuisance and battery replacement (the batteries do live a long life) can be hazardous to the watch’s health. I do it myself and when I don’t do it well, the watch is inexpensive enough that I replace it and still save money.

Stylish and very simple but functional watch. Casio has always given good good quality for a very low price. This watch gives me what I wanted in an analog face with easy read date. Many other features but I will probably not need those any time soon. Overall, highly recommend.

WOW! I received both watches today – I bought both the AW80V-5BV (Brown with velcro wrist band) and the AW80V-7AV (White dial with black rubber? wrist band).
When unpacking them I was not surprised to see the watches looking pretty much like they showed on Amazon.com pictures. When I put each one of them on I was very pleasantly surprised at how much better they even looked when I put them on! Who knows, I have beautiful wrists?!… Seriously, I am very happy with the looks and would’ve thought they cost more if I’ve seen someone else wear them.
Talking about pricing this watch is a steal! I say again “all this for only $20?!” That’s unbelievable! I am going back to check for other colors! I may be wearing a different watch every day just to match the color of my shirts!
Oh, the analog dial of both models is sooo easy to read! The digital display?… I can read it easily from many feets away!
The light is pretty bright! Who says it is not? I don’t see myself using it often though… Who wants a light on their watch? Certainly not me! If I am in the dark, the last thing I want to know about is the time – there are more interesting things to do in the dark 🙂 – unless, of course, I was some kind of a special forces commando, or was in some kind of trouble, etc..
SETUP – It was very easy, simple and logical! (Of course, I’m a genious too, besides having beautiful wrists). Seriously, after I adjusted the first one – it took only a few short minutes – by following the simple instructions in the manual, I did the second one without going to the instructions and, believe me, I am the type that would always prefer to have things done and ready, zero-setup type and it was NOT a pain, even for me.
Well, that’s it! I recommend it.
SUMMARY: Excellent timekeeping device with expensive features, great looking watch – looks more expensive than it is!

長短針と文字盤の形状、配色が良く、時刻が直感的に確認できる。購入後すぐ時刻合わせして10日経過したが、一秒遅れたかどうかというところ。この点は個体差があるかもだけど。電話番号メモリはさすがに使わないが、アラームとカウントダウン・タイマーは使いやすい。この手のタイマーは通常進む方にしか送れないが、この機は戻す方にも送れるのが便利。バッテリーの持ちは確認しようがないが、数年持つようなら、ソーラー充電や電波時計の機能が不要に思えてくる。チプカシ恐るべし。

I love this watch. The funky retro look with a digital/analog display is cool. The amber backlight is easy to read and the added memory feature is a great place to keep phone numbers or passwords. All at a very affordable price.

Pour le prix cette montre est tout à fait correcte! Je l’ai testée en piscine et mer, pas de souci d’étanchéité. Elle dispose également d’un chrono et d’un compte à rebours (ainsi que d’une mémoire de N° de tél!).
Je cherchais une montre avec une date apparente et lisible. Elle répond à mon besoin et j’aime bien son look “explorateur”!

I bought this watch to replace a 12-year old Timex Expedition watch. My daily timekeeping is done by my cellphone now, but for sports and international travel the Expedition (with analog and digital displays and 100m WR, $40 in 2001) was my trusty watch. It started to leak water after the 3rd battery replacement which I think was due to a damaged gasket. This Casio looks more refined than the Timex and the 10-year battery will hopefully let me use it without hassle for a long while. Built-in world time zones allow for switching to local time easily during international travel while maintaining my home time on the other display. Timekeeping has been accurate enough in the week I have owned it.
I found the process for adjusting the analog time rather cumbersome. This will be an annoyance with daylight savings and adjusting for losing/gaining over time. The Timex had a simple crown for the analog adjustment that made it a breeze to adjust time.
Reading the watch in the dark is near impossible. Timex “Indiglo” is a very nice backlight which allowed for easy clear reading of both analog and digital displays. Casio “Illuminator” is a just a light around the perimeter and barely sufficient to read the analog time and utterly useless for the digital display.
The 50m WR is not rated for snorkeling which is a step down from the Timex, but I knew that before purchasing.
Overall, it is an attractive watch with some really nice features and a few gripes. Most importantly a great deal for the price.
