Casio Men’s Stainless Steel Quartz Watch MDV-106B-1A3VCF

As if you didn’t already know from the other reviews, the Casio Duro is a great value. It’s a reliable and handsome quartz watch at a good price.

I’ve given four other colors as gifts and so I figured I’d get a color for myself that I hadn’t yet given to anyone. The green bezel was calling my name. I figured a white band would look better with green, so I paired the watch with a white 22mm silicone strap from Archer. I like the result. I’m sure it would look good with other silicone strap or nato strap colors and textures, too. A stainless steel band would look great. You can make this watch look however you want. For me, the green bezel model is a bit dark and drab with the stock black band.

I guess I lucked out with a seconds hand that aligns pretty well with the dial markers, but at this price I was prepared to disregard misalignment. As far as other quality considerations go, I haven’t tested in water yet, but a couple of the ones I gifted have been surfing in the ocean with no problem. I noticed a review in which someone said his was faulty due to lack of water resistance and he showed a picture of moisture inside the crystal. The same picture showed that his crown was not screwed in, so I have to speculate that the water damage was due to user error. Screw down the crown, or your watch will be not much more than a tiny canteen without a cap.

I own all sorts of watches including very expensive Omega, Rolex, Tag Heuer, etc. I like inexpensive watches as much as I like expensive ones. The cheaper watches are generally more fun to wear, to be honest. This Casio could fall off my wrist onto concrete, or it could be lost at sea, and while I’d be disappointed to have to replace it, my soul would not be crushed… and I wouldn’t have to make an insurance claim. 😉

There are some automatic divers with Japanese movements near this price point, and they’re cool. But they lose 30 seconds a day and stop when you don’t wear them. So if you’re looking for a good-looking, reliable, rugged, versatile, convenient and affordable watch I think you’ve found it.

This is a beautiful dive watch. Essential but well done. Almost iconic with the marlin logo in the dial and in the case back. The dimensions are quite big, about 44 mm diameter, but it wears ok on the wrist (17 cm in my case). It is difficult to find it in Europe. Now Casio sells a new version in EU without the marlin logo and incision. Amazon made a fantastic service. With taxes and shipment, I’ve had one true “Marlin Duro” with about 80 EUR with the change. I opted for the Hulk or Kermit color (black/green), the best color version together with the blue one in my opinion. If you like and trust Casio (and you should) you must have the Marlin Duro in your collection.

You could give me a choice between a dozen smart watches, Rolexes, fancy dive watches. I’ll take this. Cheap in price but valuable in quality like many products from Japan. Yes it will get scratched a little. You may have to replace the band. But it tells time, lasts long, doesn’t flood (tested as deep as 103ft in warm waters on a dive in the BVIs) and it looks kick ass. A number of people I work with who like fancy stuff asked me what it was thinking it was fancy
Casio is a buy no matter the model really, they are the victorinox or Kleenex of timepieces for the modern person who wants functionality and reliability over technology or boujee name brands.

This is a great watch. It is extremely accurate. The watch has proven to not gain or loose more than 2 seconds per month. I watch to me is not jewelry it has one purpose …. to tell time accurately and quickly. This watch meets those requirements. I have a number of similar watches. The Casio is great for the money. It looks nice. It is durable and has great water resistance. It is very accurate. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because the luminous dial is not as bright as other watches I own. I wear a watch when I sleep and sometimes this watch is hard to read a night. I would definitely recommend this watch as a good all purpose watch. I have 5 other similar watches and this is always in my daytime watch rotation.

I’ve wanted one for a long time.

Hard time choosing a color. This green version is a little more green than I expected. I was expecting a little more sea foam green. It looks good and I’m not upset. Glad it’s not a darker green.

I’m a seiko/Casio guy. I currently have about 7 watches that I rotate between. This will be a daily wear watch. Glad for the screw down crown.

Haven’t checked the lume but at this price it doesn’t matter. Bezel clicks really solid. A little give when you try and push it backwards, but it feels really set in place.

Strap feels great for this price. In a couple years when it wears a little I’ll replace it with a nato strap.

(Update) been wearing this to work for over a year about 4-5/7 days a week. It’s solid. Comfortable, not so big that it hirs anything, but big enough to look good and stand out on my wrist. It keeps excellent time. Finish still looks excellent. Lume sort of sucks but it doesn’t matter. The watch looks really good. There is nothing of this quality that looks this good for this price. I’m surprised Casio doesn’t sell this for $100.
