I have to admit, I used the same filter for 2 years. I’m embarrassed now. I took the last one out, washed it off as I did the complete scrubbing of the litter box every 1 to 3 months. I went to put it back in once it dried and it smelled like the litter box!! I quickly ordered new ones and WOW! What a difference!! No more smelly litter box. You wouldn’t even know I had 2 cats again. FYI, don’t hesitate as I did in replacing your old filter.

I really didn’t think that I needed to replace these as often as I did, but once I did replace it, I was very pleasantly surprised.
I have a 23 pound cat in a small one-bedroom apartment. You can imagine that things get kind of stinky sometimes. I bought these because I realized I hadn’t replaced the carbon filter since I bought the box several months ago, and when I replaced it I was so pleasantly surprised. I felt like the smell was contained much better to the box, and it didn’t last as long after the cat used it as well.
For how cheap they are, and with a small space, it’s well worth it to have that extra layer of protection with the smell.

UPDATE 7/12/16: Well, after a month, my little buddy finally discovered the filter and is attempting to tear it to shreds. Since it is thicker and sturdier than others, he’s having a bit more difficulty in destroying this one, so after a few minutes I guess he gets tired picking at it and walks away. I covered it up with a book, but every so often he remembers it’s there and starts digging around around. We’ll see…I do realize sooner or later he will get a hunk of it, pull it out and there will be bits of it all over the apartment.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: This does seem to work as intended (litter box smells are under control for the most part), but honestly I guess I’m a little too anal-retentive and I just bought these to cover up the slots in the roof of the litter box. Hopefully my little buddy won’t notice this and start to pick it apart like he did with the original filter years back. These are thicker than the original flimsy thin ones that came with the litter box, and a bit more sturdy…they also seem to filled with a woven material that make it more difficult to tear and should work better at absorbing odors that would come through the slots. Because of their thickness, these seem to stay in place better as well……

These filters work amazing in the Catit Litter boxes. I rent a room in a house and have to keep the litter box in my bedroom. Not ideal I know but I have no choice. I purchased the white jumbo hooded litterbox by Catit and ordered these since they were at a great add on price. They keep the odor contained completely in combination with the litterbox. I don’t even smell when my two cats go poo. This really impressed me! I have used carbon filters before and never noticed any reduction in odor before now. I am definitely now a believer and lifelong customer! They arrived on time thanks to Amazon and my prime membership and came packaged in a plastic bag with the box of filters inside. Since I am a new user of this item I’m not quite sure how often they need to be changed but at least I know I have them when I need them now. I would recommend these filters and the litter box they work with to any cat owner hands down!
