Nicht wirklich komfortabel. Minderweriger Stahl.

The Scandinavian Ground Puuko (Finland) or Mora (Sweden) or Helle (Norway) have over 100 years of proven value as a utility knife in the wilderness. Some may prefer full tang, heavy, thick fixed blades, which one could compare to the broadswords of old in Europe, in contrast to the light, fast blades of old in Japan and the Middle East. Such heavy blades fixed blades are for chopping and batoning. I prefer the Scandinavian approach, and further prefer a folder over a belt knife style – as long as it is just as strong! And there’s the issue.
Cold Steel has made such a folder, the Finn Wolf. It’s exceptionally sharp and easy to sharpen; it’s TRIAD lock affords strength enough to baton kindling to tinder, and its blade and sharpness provide a tool for carving and similar bushcraft tasks. This and a good folding saw (Gomboy Silky) are all you need.
The orange Griv-Ex handle adds to the package – easy to spot if dropped. The pocket clip doesn’t get in the way of a good grip. A lanyard hole is a good idea for sure-to-hand retention, and access if the clip is removed. Flat spine is perfect for use with a ferrocerium rod fire starter, too. However, the thumb stud obstructs full blade length slicing and batoning, and doesn’t really help for one-handed opening either – I removed mine.
The Cold Steel Finn Wolf Folder is a perfect camp companion utility knife blending blade shape, steel, and sharpness with the strength of the TRIAD lock for an unobtrusive yet very effective and serious knife.

This is 4 ½ stars but I cant do half stars. Anyway most of this review is going to be a comparison. I am a huge fan of scandi knives and so of course im going to compare this knife to the Mora Companion!
First and foremost…this knife IS INDEED a true scandi! I was shocked a true scandi on a folding knife for this price is awesome! There are a few others out there of course but they are all much more expensive or too fat or just lies. (saying scandi but actually there is a micro bevel). All I did on it was some light stropping and then I did a blade test against my mora companion and it held up! It might have even done a little better! I am so happy to find a folding scandi! This is my new favorite single blade EDC!
((For those of you who don’t know what scandi means or why that’s a big deal…I’ll just say that to grind a blade down to a true scandi is a lot of work and most knife companies don’t wanna put up with that. Where as throwing on a quick micro bevel (weather its convex or hollow grind) takes almost no effort for a major knife company with the right machinery. That’s one of the reasons why Mora with its cheap true scandi razor sharp knives are so popular. If you want to know why a scandi grind is superior in the first place go and do some research or buy a mora or this knife and find out for yourself))
Second. While the handle is indeed plastic it seems decent quality. In comparing it to mora companion: The mora’s plastic and this plastic seem about the same to me. Maybe mora is a little better. But then again since this is a folding knife it more complex and thus easier to notice its “cheap plastic-y-ness”. Where as the mora as a fixed blade can just pour it into a single mold without having to worry about locks and screws and multiple parts etc. Hard to say on this one. Maybe ill write an updated review in another year once I see how well it holds up.
Third is the price. This is where it drops half a star. The mora companion is only $15 and this one is $35. Well even though its more expensive…I only nocked off half a star because like I said when compared to other folding scandi’s this price is sweet! And the blade is thicker than the companion so maybe that’s part of the reason. Still I give cold steel major props for filling this need.
Other bits:
Like I said the blade is thicker and thus will hold up its edge even better as a true scandi. Yet that extra thickness didn’t stop it from loosing its razor sharpness which is sweet. Don’t know yet how good the steel is. Ill add that to the update list. But scandi grinds in general are known for keeping there edges…part of why I love them so much and looked for this knife in the first place.
The knife is still kind of slim! Some of the folding scandi’s have fat handles that kind of ruin the point of it being a “pocket” knife. This one has a fairly slim profile, which I really appreciated.
The locking mechanism is solid. Doesn’t feel like its going to close on me…in truth its actually kind of hard to close…which im ok with. Better to be hard to close than being loose.
Pocket clip is decent can be flipped to either side of the knife. Doesn’t change the grip too much so that its uncomfortable which I was happy about.
Choose the orange one and it looks great. Wouldn’t mind a black option but I couldn’t find one. The red and blue were a weird hue to me so orange it is!
Hope this review helps

Very good locking mechanism on these knives. They come razor sharp and make do a good carrying knife.

Actually, I own several of these if that means anything. They weigh almost nothing, clip firmly to my pants pocket, and are razor sharp. With a little practice, it is easy to do a one hand opening of the blade—without having to snap your hand like a gunfighter. Actually, I can in a relaxed manner open these knives with either hand. They work for everything I would use a knife for, and because they are so light, I always have one with me. I like the fluorescent orange handle model and the bright blue handle on one of my other knives. If you ever watched the Cold Steel test on this model, you would be impressed and would want one. I think I own four or five of them. Why? I guess I’m always misplacing things. If I have enough of them, one is always handy to take with me.

I’m 6 ft 240lbs and don’t have the strength to close this knife. Other than that I love this knife. Will be selling or returning

Man
Can’t believe how great cold steel knives were til I purchased one which was the silver eye elite
Then I came across the Finn wolf and it’s much cheaper but just as sharp
Very sharp
Very lightweight
Made very well for the price
So I ordered 3 of them
Don’t know how long the sharpness will last skinning out deer and bear but from what I can see now either of the 2 different model knives will be great
Cold steel does make very good quality products
Thanks again cold steel for impressing me again

The Cold Steel Finn Wolf is a really remarkable knife. It features a Japanese AUS-8 stainless steel blade with a Scandi grind, that can be described as a folding Pukko. This blade style is favored for Bushcraft and Camping, its 3.5 inches long and 3mm thick. The handle is made of Griv-Ex a really tough heat resistant thermo-plastic, so strong liners are not needed. The knife features the unique Cold Steel Tri-Lok, which is tested to several hundred pounds, it will not break under normal use. It comes with a pocket clip which can be mounted on the right or left. The handle comes in four colors, Olive Drab, Orange, Red or blue. This is a really great knife my only issue was the handle had a hot spot on the curved butt. It was easy to remove the sharp edge with a bit of fine sandpaper.
