Wanted a small and basic set for DIY projects and these fit the bill. Perfect handheld size and quality build. Craftsman is perfect for general household use and these files have quality teeth to tackle plenty of DIY jobs.

This is a set of six compact files perfect for small tasks in small spaces. I’ve been disappointed with a number of Craftsman products I’ve gotten recently, but this was a pleasant surprise and an exception: the quality felt right up to par with the tools of my childhood, and I think this is one of the nicest products I’ve gotten with the Craftsman brand over the last few years. The handles are comfortable, the case is a useful way to store the set without a lot of added bulk, and the files are effective at their task. I think this set of files should last most people for many years to come.

I’ve been on the lookout for a needle file set for quite a while but hadn’t found anything that struck my fancy until now. I needed it for minor chainsaw sharpening and other filing tasks where my full-size files are just too big. I also do some minor fabrication here and there, and working on internal holes is tough with the files I had. Plus, I’ve wished I had them for cleaning up some 3D prints. This set has a great range of files that cover 99% of anything I will need. They appear to be made really well, though the handles do have some flashing left on them that I’ll clean up with a hobby knife. I’ve only used them for a short while and haven’t tried to file down anything too hard, so I can’t speak to the durability just yet. For the price, these are a huge win.

Good file set that was exactly what I needed for a project I’m working on.
I recent years it seems that some Craftsman tools have gone a bit downhill in quality, but not these. These files work great and seem to be well made.

This is a good basic set of files. I use it to clean up and deburr edges on my cuts. They work well with plastic as well. I tried them on some PVC to help chamfer an edge on a pipe and the files made light work of the little jagged bits. This set comes with 6 files, they are all slightly different sizes and can help with different needs. Honestly for my use I barely look at which one I grab because most of the time I just need a rough edges to remove some excess wood or plastic. I do wish they had a case because they are quite rough and I don’t like the idea of them loose in my tool bag scratching up my other tools.

For light duty work, especially softer metals and plastics, this is a nice general purpose set. They work well on steel too, at least milder varieties. I haven’t needed to use them on anything hardened yet. I like the variety of profiles, as most of my files are simple square edge or rounded.
