I don’t have any background in BB guns. My son is in scouts and got a chance to shoot a few during a special event and immediately wanted to do it again. Did a quick search on the web, and landed on this. The gun appears to be well made, but ours didn’t come with any ammo that was advertised in the listing and in the supplied photos. Luckily we had someone help us at our local rural king store. The gun is fairly accurate, but the farther you get away from the target, the wilder some of the shots become. We were shooting from a table at a fixed position. Most hit our target, but some would veer off wildly. Perhaps it’s the BBs? We used crossman ammo. The pump action is very stiff and my son has trouble pumping it. Also the bolt action is very hard to pull back. All in all it’s okay, but I don’t really have anything to compare it to.

Hello, way back in the 1970s when I was a teenager like so many other teens that were not sports inclined I was having issues with my coordination, so mt Daddy bought me a Crossman 760 .177 bb/pellet rifle. This product probably did more for my Eye/Hand coordination than any exercise ever would. I’m right handed, so using my left hand to operate the pump action to pump up the rifle while at the same time with my left hand holding the rifle and loading a bb or pellet, then aiming/shooting. It was great. I used it so muck that I actually wore that first one out and went on to a Crossman 766 which was basically the same thing just a little fancier, and I got so good with this rifle that I could shoot squirrels. So fast forward to 2024 and everyone in my neighborhood is complaining about the groundhogs that had moved into our neighborhood, so I looked around and ended up buying this Crossman rifle and am now actively trying to get a shot at those same groundhogs. The Crossman 760/760P is by far the best hand pump air rifle.

This is NOT the crossman BB gun i had when i was a kid. This thing is trash. Bought for my sons birthday and he was so sad when it would work. It would only load bb’s 1 in 10 tries. I was shaking and tilting, bouncing, it would not load! These also have some built in bb magazine on the top with aswitch you have to code to hold bbs in the hopper to load. Useless junk. The scope could not be zeroed (im an expert rifleman in the military). Don’t waste your money. Sending it back asap.

I purchased this gun as a Christmas present for my 8 year old son. I owned one of these 25 years ago, and the memories I have are wonderful. I wanted to give my son the same enjoyment I had when I used it as a kid. First and foremost, my son does not use this alone, I help him at all times. We loaded the BB chamber with about 30 BB’s, and proceeded to read the instructions together. After running through a series of safety checks, we were ready to take it out back and fire it.

I set up a soda can about 5 yards out. I started with 3 pumps, as per the instructions. The first shot was a direct hit. After about 5 more direct hits, I tried 10 yards. I decided to use 5 pumps due to the increased distance. Again, I had 5 direct hits. I proceeded to move to 15 yards (still using 5 pumps) and I hit 2 out of 3 shots. Finally, I went out to 20 yards. I pumped the gun to about 7 pumps. To my surprise, i was still able to hit 4 out of 5 shots. I had similar results at 25 yards as well.

My first impression was the same impression I got 25 years ago. Wow, what a fun little BB gun.

Here are some notes on the gun itself.

    Pros:
    – Surprisingly accurate
    – A little difficult to pump. This is a good thing, since this means good air pressure with each pump.
    – The pump difficulty also means that your 8 or 9 year old will need an adult to use this gun, since they will probably not be able to pump it by them selves.
    – The green night sight is also cool. It does work well in low light conditions, and helps with aiming.
    – The visible magazine feature allows you to see how many BB’s are “In Line”. When out, just point the gun down, rotate it and it will fill up again.
    – Relatively light weight. My 8 year old was able to hold it up and aim correctly.
    – Comes with a Pellet sliding magazine that holds 5 Pellets. Nice and Handy.

    Cons:
    – Has a cheap feel to it, but that is to be expected for such an inexpensive gun
    – The construction appears as though any drops or miss-handling will cause it to break.

Notes Regarding my 8 Year old and Gun Operation:
My son was unable to pump this on his own. He also had a hard time holding the gun up for longer than a few seconds. He also could not hit the target from 5 yards away. This is all to be expected for a first timer.

Notes Regarding Safety: These guns are not toys. When I was young a friend of mine was killed by a BB Gun when he was shot in the chest by his friend while they were playing. These guns are not designed to be used by children, but with the help of a responsible adult.

    Closing Comments:
This gun is not a bad choice if you are looking to have fun in the back yard by yourself, with friends or with your son/daughter. It is very inexpensive and appears to be designed as a very first BB Gun. I hear many people talking about the quality of these guns 30 years ago. Yes, they may have been a little better, but not by much. The one I had 25 years ago eventually did break as expected. It certainly was not as accurate as this one is, from what I can remember. No BB gun is designed to last forever. I followed the instructions and the gun worked just fine. I recommend purchasing a gun of higher quality if being used for pest control or hunting. It does work as intended, and for the price I was not disappointed. I will post some updated comments a few months from now after we have used it extensively.

I used this gun 3 times, shot about 15 to 20 pallets until I realized the last time I used it that pallets have Jamed in ..I’m not sure if I could ever use it again and how to get those stuck pallets out πŸ™

Definitely Crossman quality. I wouldn’t think twice about ordering this again. Very accurate and the shooter chooses the level of power by the amount of times pumped. Shoots .177 BB’s and Pellets. Good comfortable feel and not loud at all
