The Mad Squirrel –
This is currently priced at $42.98 as of cyber monday 2024. I purchased this because my family recently became e scooter riders and I wanted my children and husband to have extra protection when riding as they are more adventurous than I am. We live in an urban area with a bike path but the drivers are always so discourteous they often put riders in dangerous situations so having this under outer wear makes me feel better about everyone riding especially now that it’s getting colder. The sides are slightly exposed but this armor on the chest is better than nothing at all. If one was to collide with a vehicle or be thrown forward and slide at least the ribcage and back would have something between them and the ground etc. This prevents roadrash MORE than save your bones. So please keep that in mind when purchasing.

I recently tried this out to be safer on a motorcycle. The protective gear feels sturdy, and the plastic components seem like hard plastic, offering a solid level of protection. However, I’m unsure how well they would hold up in a serious accident, as the material may not be as flexible or resilient as expected.
One downside is that the side straps are a bit hard to reach, which could be inconvenient when adjusting the fit. They also seem like they might not be as durable over time, and there’s a concern they could fail with extended use. Overall, the gear offers decent protection for lighter activities, but I would be cautious about relying on it for more serious situations.
Id say its fine for going slow, bikes or atvs, but would probably get something better for motocross or motorcycles

The Advertisement for this product is accurate, which is important to me. This Gear is made out of Pliable Hard Plastic. The Body Armor adds some resistance before impact is made with your body. When I wear it, it feels comfortable, not like wearing an Armour Suit. Very satisfied.

I ride an electric unicycle, so full body gear just makes sense. The review will be aimed at riding a EUC only, so your mileage may vary.
Right off the starting line I will tell you that I am 6’1″ 240 pounds athletic build. I ordered the largest size in this armor. I am pleased to say that it fits perfectly.
If you own protective gear, you will understand that you get what you pay for….for the most part, so you will probably understand what you will get for less than fifty bucks.
I rarely ride my EUC over 25 and I believe this armor would prevent me from getting road rash on my chest or back. If I plan on riding faster than that, I have an expensive set of armor I use, but I prefer wearing something lightweight like this if I can get away with it.
Buckling the vest is super simple. I do wish the strap ends were a bit more robust.
This would be perfect for skaters, scooter riders, etc.
The armor looks the part as well. I appreciate a simple color scheme without a ton of ads/logos.
For fifty bucks you are getting something that will save you a ton of potential pain.

This is designed for small adults. I am tall and heavy and this barely covered my ribs. But the back rode up high. When I pull the back down the front came up too high. There is no side protection with this. The plastic used to make the armor part is thin and cheap. The protection will not really protect you from much. If you are small, really thin, and not moving very fast this would protect you from road rash maybe. Not the worst but not really that good either.

So this is marketed as a smaller, lighter version of DA’s regular chest protection, and that’s exactly what it is. I’m 5’9 and 220lbs, it fits fine. In fact I can lock each side to it’s maximum point, so there are several inches of room for someone larger. It does, however, only go down to the top of my lower back. That will provide plenty of protection, but it isn’t for my full torso. Again, this is the smaller and lighter version, so that’s no reason to complain. This vest isn’t supposed to make you Batman… But I did have my kids hit me a little with it on, and it definitely provides good protection. I’m thinking this will be good for under my mountain biking jersey.

Got this just to have some additional protection underneath my armor jacket. Fits on Neice and the clips on the side buckle up well. They stay tight and it is comfortable based on what you’re wearing underneath. Not real sure exactly how much protection at what speeds it would provide as it’s kind of just a thin padded plastic polymer. If you’re wearing a jacket with padding, this is a great accompaniment. It will keep the heat in, however, and that’s one thing to remember when riding.

December 13, 2024:
This lightweight body armor is composed of two pieces: one breastplate and one back plate. The two plates are joined by straps on the back plate; two on top and two on the side. Two extra rivets were included.
No instructions were included but configuration info is available on the Amazon product page.
I’m 5’8″ and wear a US Large shirt. The plates go as low as my belly button while standing. I was hoping they would provide coverage a bit lower toward the waist, but I discovered that the length is just right to allow for sitting down without removing everything. The fit/placement matches that of the model in one of the product images.
I would recommend securing the top straps first then putting the armor on. They pass over the shoulders and are affixed to the front with Velcro. Next, inserting the side straps is easy.
The elastic of the side straps is adjustable and the tabs plug into slots in the breastplate. A push of a button allows the tabs to be removed easily.
The armor provides some protection against impact and abrasion. I think it’s reasonably durable relative to its weight and flexibility.
If I notice anything remarkable while using it, I’ll update the review.
December 15, 2024: For people who don’t like the armored look, it may be worn under a jacket or other outer garment.
