These are great strings for the serious player. My son is an advanced student – practicing many hours a day in preparation for competitions and auditions, and we have purchased many sets of strings over the years. These strings last a long time with good response and tone quality compared to some other types and brands. These are a little on the expensive side but we think they produce a great sound a little longer than other similar pro strings so it may be worth spending a little more for them. They also helped with projection on an instrument that was naturally a bit on the softer side – which was a real benefit in a couple competitions!

The E string is completely rusted, I don’t know where the strings were stored, it’s just outrageous (((((((

These strings remind me of a cross between Infeld Blue and Tonica. The set lasted about four full months, with one hour of play each day. The sound is bright without being overly clean. The projection is sufficiently loud. However, in the future I would save some money and just buy Tonica.

Ive been a professional musician for 25 years. I play about 100-150 gigs a year. I’ve been a long time user of D’addario strings, I fit them on my all acoustics, all my mandolins, Ukeleles, acoustic bass etc. I also fit them on all my violins. I find the Kaplan strings are the best overall violin string I’ve tried, I’ve used Amo and Vivo versions in multiple gauges. I was dismayed then to discover that the E string was heavily tarnished out of the packet. This is especially bad considering the minimum price for a pack of just 4 strings is now about £80 and often £100+. I can’t justify spending this money if this continues. This is a first for D’addario in my experience. I hope this is an isolated incident and not a sign of things to come.

I’m on my second set of these–I needed something extra bright for an outdoor performance, and I loved the first set. They do sound a bit metallic, but the brightness made up for it. But on that set I never got the same level of sound from the D string–the bow just wouldn’t grip it the same way. Not a huge deal and it got better after about a month. I still repeated the purchase, but on this new set, the A string sounds awful–croaks, even after a few days. I thought maybe it needed rosin, but nope. Had to order a new A string from a different brand. I’m not a professional, but I’ve played for years and haven’t had these issues with other strings.

These are wonderful strings! They gave me the bright sound I really wanted. Especially on the lower end. It’s still rich (robust) and still has a darkness, but it has the bright sound a violin is meant to have. With most other strings, I got a sound more along the lines of what a viola should have, darker and mellower. A violin is meant to be bright and sweet. Especially in ensembles. HOWEVER, the silk wrapping at the tailpiece started to come undone. The black did, not the silver. I’ve had this problem a lot, so I must scold D’addario, and tell them to figure out how to make the black spiral wrapping over the silver more secure. I still give five stars because this is based on sound, not the silk wrapping.

I very much like everything except the D string.

The other project and have a nice sound that balances the mellowness of my instrument.

The D string doesn’t have a nice sound and I feel like I have to coerce everything I het out of it.

    If I had a do-over, I’d buy Pirazzi Gold D, and the Kaplan G, A, E.

After 8 years of using the same basic set of strings recommended by most violin instructors, I decided to upgrade my sound by adding these heavy tension strings. What a difference this made. My violin is as loud and thunderous as if I have a mic pick-up attached. Granted these strings are still in the break in period, I am pleased with my decision. Although I am a self taught student of the violin, I have played enough to be a pretty good judge of sound change and resonance. Great strings for those ready to seriously enhance one’s appreciation of the “voice”of the orchestral strings.

Me gustan estas cuerdas mucho, pero en esta ocasión me llegó así la cuerda de A. Espero que no se rompa, y de ser así ojalá haya una compensación porque No son económicas
