As a reviewer who receives the items for free, I try to envision each review as if I’d spent the retail price on it. While these stomp buttons are really quite awesome, I think a price of $10 would have been perfect and more appropriate (or toss a 3rd button in). I find it hard to pay $8 a pop (after tax).

That being said, some things I love compared to the generic ones I swapped out. The buttons are larger and have a nice rounded contour to them which makes it nicer for those that play without shoes on. They are extremely easy to put on. It’s a great design where you put it on, press it down til it clicks and then it self locks and tightens so it can’t be removed. Others I have use a rubber cap and a side screw that you tighten. While that sounds more secure, I can usually still pop those off even without loosening the screw. The only challenge would be undoing the lock on the bottom to swap them to a different pedal – but I’m not really worried about that right now.

    Great item!

I didn’t;t know if I would like these or not. Put them on a pedal that sites in front of my wah and the footswitch was tricky to reach. This not only makes it easier to switch on and off, but it’s also more comfortable on the foot. Looks good on the pedal as well!

Note: While these things are absurdly expensive for what they are, I have decided to ignore that factor in the star rating just because I think they work really well — better than I expected and probably better than any others on the market. You’ll have to be the judge of whether the cost is worth it to you.

I got a pair of these D’Addario footswitch toppers and chose to put them on two of my most-used pedals — booster and tuner. I’m not sure if it’s the larger diameter or just the extra height that is more helpful, but I am definitely more comfortable stepping on these without interfering with other pedals’ knobs and switches.

What really stands out with these toppers in particular is the way they attach. Other brands I have seen are of two types: (1) Simple molded plastic toppers that push on. The problem with these is they only work on a specific size of switch, so unless you have only one brand of pedal and buy the same brand topper, you are taking a gamble on whether they will work. Also, it seems like they could fall off pretty easily during transport. (2) Toppers that are designed to fit different sized switches using set screws. These might be fine, but having three or four set screws per topper that can only be turned with a tiny hex wrench is inconvenient to say the least.

The D’Addario toppers have a hinged design. First you slide a little cap over the switch, then you hinge the larger topper over until it clicks, locking it in place pretty firmly. You can still pull it off, but it takes a good amount of force that certainly won’t happen accidentally. It’s a great design that I highly recommend if it fits your budget.

When I first saw these on the market a few years ago, I thought they were a bit of a gimmick. I was wrong. I really like these, not only for easy toe engagement, but they are easier to push than the standard button by itself. They are also comfortable in socks and if you use your hands to engage the pedals. These are very easy to install on the pedal and require no tools. Once on, they seem to be very solid and work great. Additional colors would be great to help differentiate your pedals on a dark stage, or to highlight different areas like distortion, modulation, etc… I will be purchasing more of these. I do like them in the studio when my pedals are on my desk and use my hands to turn on and off the effect. Metal cap with a plastic base, very well made.

These are exceedingly clever in design. The other foot switch “toppers” I’ve used have been solid, machined aluminum, with set screws to attach them to the top button. Instead, most of this pedal is made from a high grade plastic (I’m thinking nylon or delrin), with a thin aluminum cover on top.

What’s cleaver is the attachment: The cap pivots up, hinged at one edge. In this “open” position, the receptacle for the switch cap is slightly larger than when the cap is put tn the “closed” position, where it clicks into place. At this point, the cap is firmly;y fastened onto the pedal switch. It takes all of 10 seconds, as does removal. Just brilliant, and this design puts these at the low end of the cost range also. I’ll be getting more.

These work well for standard size pedal stomp switches. They don’t damage the switches and make hitting the buttons easier. These are well made and feel like they can take a beating. At the price you might only want to get a couple for your harder to get stomp switches or effects that you need to hit a lot, but they are good quality.

This topper works differently than most. I have used the cheap generic ones and then switched to the clear Mooer ‘Shroom toppers. The Mooer’s have the cleanest appearance and are ergonomically superior to the others. The only problem is the Mooer toppers do not snap on to any footswitch button that is not the most common standard size.

This topper folds into place and tightens firmly around the diameter of the button, rather than gripping it from underneath, allowing for a slightly different range.

Snug Fit: – Every normal pedal with the standard size footswitch head.
    – nano Big Muff ℼ.
(Standard toppers are slightly too loose & won’t work on the Muff’s slightly smaller than usual footswitch head).
Too small: – The footswitch head on my late model Tech21 SansAmpGT2 is too big for this Donner Topper.
    – The footswitch head on my late model Tech21 SansAmpXYZ is too big for this Donner Topper.

The colored top popped of one. Also didn’t work well on a certain pedal. Took it off.
