This was the third set of strings I bought for my acoustic guitar. The first one was a Martin phosphor Bronze light, great strings with a great sound, as I was (and still am) learning to play the guitar, these strings helped me to build the necessary calluses on my finger tips but they were killing my fingers in the process, and it was really hard for me to bar some notes on the upper frets as they were really hard to push on. So I decided to sacrifice a little sound and go to nylon strings, so I bought a D’Addario EJ45 Pro Arte set, they were a blessing for my hurting fingers but having heard the beautiful sound produced by the phosphor strings made me miss them a lot. I still wasn’t satisfied, I wanted the sound coming from the metallic strings but also knew that I just couldn’t play with the set I already had, so I spent hours and hours in Amazon searching for the right strings, that’s when I read a review about the Blue Steel Light being the perfect ones because of the sound they produced and because they were as soft as they can be, so I took the risk and ordered them, and perfect they are!, the sound is just great and my fingers are not all complaining and I can even play bar notes anywhere on the neck, just what I was looking for.

The guitar I use these strings on has a naturally warmer tone. These strings pair really great with that. The bottom end is rich and full and mud-free, and the highs are bright and clear without getting tinny or sharp. They feel good, they play great, and they last a really long time before showing wear

I have used Blue Steels on all my electrics for years and when I bought a lightly used Breedlove C250/CMe with the original D’Addario (And completely dead) strings I looked to Blue Steels. They are somewhat reminiscent of the Blue Steel electric strings in that they are very clear, crisp and somewhat bright but they are definitely an acoustic string. On my guitar they are very resonant and project very well. I generally prefer spruce topped acoustics but got this Breedlove with a cedar top because I loved the feel and playability of it. I hoped that a brighter string would offset the normal characteristics of a cedar top and add some sparkle and “Zing” to the tone. They did that in spades. They do have a rather unique “Wiry” quality to their sound, so if you are looking for that soft, round, very warm tone such as Martin Phosphor Bronze strings, you will likely be rather disappointed. However, they provide excellent definition to your playing and even though I am not a finger-picker, they would probably respond well to that. They bend well and hold their tuning amazingly well. If you are looking for a bright, resonant, “Punchy” tone with gobs of presence these strings are for you.

The strings may not have the greatest bass response but on my Gibson J-50 that lends the guitar a well rounded sound. Not to brash, not twangy, just nice to play and a lovely sound – my new #1 choice! For years I have been a d’addario man and still prefer their EXL and NYXL for my tele, but Dean Markley’s cryogenic strings are the ones for my J-50!

I have an old Ovation Balladeer that is about 42 yrs old. I received it as a gift from my sister in law. I have never been particularly fond of the guitar’s voice, so have often changed strings brands, trying to dial in the sound that I am looking for on this instrument.
I bought these elevens a few days ago started playing them. All I can say is that I think that I have finally hit pay dirt. These strings are well made and comfortable to play – no soreness in my fingers, despite playing them for 5-6 hours so far.They hold tune very well, unlike some higher end strings that seem to stretch for weeks after installation. The highs are nice and bright, but not too twangy. The bottom is full and not too muddy. No buzzes. Harmonics are spot on.
I cannot say that they will work the same for every kind of guitar, but for mine, they are great. I would recommend anyone trying them on any acoustic guitar. Heck, for the money, you can’t go wrong.

I’ve been playing Blue Steels since I started playing guitar in the 90s. I’ve tried other brands here and there but always return to these. Great sound, great feel, and excellent longevity. Dean Markley makes quality strings.

Nothing wrong with these at all. Good a sounding strings as any and they don’t destroy your fret hand like the hex core of Ernie Balls’ and D’ Addarios.
